While he has assailed the investigations for a year, Mr. Trump’s latest assertion of bad faith by the Justice Department and the F.B.I. went beyond talk and resulted in an extraordinary meeting on Monday at the White House, where the president pressured intelligence and law enforcement officials to allow congressional Republicans to view highly classified information related to the Russia investigation that they had previously refused to divulge. – Peter Baker [New York Times]
TRUMP has carved out a chunk of the Department of Justice. He can mount the heads of the DOJ together on his wall.
Assistant Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has caved. Perhaps to save Special Counsel Robert Mueller but it’s hard to excuse the kowtowing to the autocrat in the White House.
It is a crack in the system that has held firm through many assaults in the Trump era.
The war on the First Amendment continues, as Secretary Pruitt bars the AP and CNN from a summit on contaminants.
That’s nothing! The Interior Department wants to open federal lands so hunters can shoot mothers and their babies sleeping in caves.
Memorial Day has new meaning this year.
I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes – and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!

In many ways, this is the ultimate abuse of office. No other subject of a criminal investigation gets this information, but Trump uses the fact that he was elected president by the American people to set himself above the law. Again. https://t.co/LLBN9eGoC1

White House @PressSec says Kelly will convene meeting Thursday to arrange for House GOP to have access to secret documents on confidential informant. Attending will be Nunes, Gowdy, Wray, Coats and Ed O’Callaghan, a top DOJ official. Kelly will not attend, neither will Democrats.
