Emails come around again, Clinton campaign says it’s old news.

At issue are a new batch of emails from Clinton’s home server that have been flagged as containing classified information in a sworn statement to the inspector general of the intelligence community. The sworn statement came from the CIA, two U.S. officials tell NBC News. [NBC News]

THE BLOODY emails are back and the reaction has been as expected.

On MSNBC Brian Fallon, Clinton campaign spokesperson, was indignant, saying it is “absurd to suggest that Secretary Clinton did anything wrong.”

Fallon then pointed fingers, “Both the sending and the leaking of [the IG’s] letter was a reckless and irresponsible act.”

McClatchy picked it up.

People either care about this issue or they don’t. Republicans love it.

NBC News reporting

On Tuesday, Sen. Feinstein, ranking Democrat on the intelligence committee, criticized the original Fox News story about the Inspector General’s letter as partisan, and said “none of the emails that are alleged to contain classified information were written by Secretary Clinton.”

“None of the emails that were sent to Secretary Clinton were marked as including classified information, a requirement when such information is transmitted,” said Feinstein, who is backing Clinton for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.

The description of the emails as relatively innocuous came from officials, including a senior U.S. intelligence official, who believe Inspector General McCullough has been unfair to Clinton in his handling of the issue. They say McCullough and Congressional Republicans have elevated a mundane dispute about classification into a scandal.

But let’s assume the worst about the emails for a moment.

General McCullough isn’t conducting his investigation in a bubble. He knows what’s going on in the political sphere.

And with Judge Napolitano and others continuing to rant, seemingly convinced if someone else had done what Hillary Clinton did he or she would be indicted, or in jail as conservative writer Matt Lewis suggested.

It’s time for General McCullough to get it together and make a move.

Many Clinton loyalists don’t care one whit about this story. The campaign is doing what they can do about it as the buzz goes on around them.

We all know what happened to Martha Stewart but no one else, so being smug is unwise.

The timing of it all sucks. It was a huge distraction for the campaign in 2015.

So if it is a leak it’s serving its purpose once again.
