Ted Cruz, buoyed by tea party support and the backing of the conservative wing of the Republican Party, has surged to a virtual tie with Donald Trump in the first caucus state of Iowa, according to the results of a Quinnipiac University poll surveying likely Republican caucus-goers released Tuesday. IT IS shaping up to be a “war on terror” election, while middle-class problems recede. Ben Carson is this season’s incredible shrinking candidate, as the promise of Ted Cruz‘s organization and money, especially with evangelicals, seems to finally have gained steam. On the left, Bernie Sanders just got endorsed by a big rapper.
“I have said in many a rap, I don’t trust the church or the government, a Democrat, Republican, a pope, a bishop or those other men,” Killer Mike said. “But after spending five hours tonight, after spending five hours with someone who has spent the last 50 years radically fighting for your rights and mine, I can tell you that am very proud tonight to announce the next president of the United States, Sen. Bernie Sanders.” [Huffington Post]
Donald Trump shouldn’t be too worried about Iowa, because, in truth, he really has no relationship to the kinds of candidates who usually win that state. He’s also leading in the polls across early states, however, that could change quickly if another candidate catches fire.
One more thing about Bernie Sanders. He’s the top contender in online polling in Time’s “person of the year.”
Oh, and Hillary gets a very weird Instagram present from Donald Trump, who’s ready to move to general election mode. Imagine… Hillary Clinton versus Donald Trump…
