Sect. Clinton: ‘We are All in Uncharted Territory’

By |February 3rd, 2011|

There must be consequences. It's time to meet escalation with escalation and lay out, in private and public, that the Egyptian military now faces a clear and painful choice: push Mubarak out now and begin a meaningful transition, or else face international isolation and a major rupture with the United States. - Marc Lynch A [...]

What Will Pres. Obama Do Next?

By |January 30th, 2011|

Pres. Mubarak shutting down Al Jazeera in Cairo is going directly against what Pres. Obama said needed to be done by the Egyptian President, which poses a real opportunity and thorny challenge for our President that didn't need another one. Now, ElBaradei is part of the picture in a real way, the National Coalition for [...]

This Week in Crazy: Beck’s New Jew Woes, Graham Uses Our Troops’ Name to Cut SS, & More

By |January 28th, 2011|

TM NOTE: Texan4Hillary offers his perspective as a movement progressive activist. This week in crazy is full of stuff. As folks in the media look at Glenn Beck and his comments post Rep. Giffords, one popped up that is really nuts. Ok, say it with me: The Jews did NOT kill Jesus. Got it Beck? [...]

EGYPT: Al Jazeera Strips the Bark Off of State’s P.J. Crowley

Oh, but "We're seeing a fascinating dynamic unfold in the Middle East." This man needs a vacation. It's as bad as Sect. Arab Eruptions

By |January 26th, 2011|

...I'm skeptical too. But I found it unsatisfying to settle for such skepticism as I watched the massive demonstrations unfold in Egypt on my Twitter feed while moderating a panel discussion on Tunisia yesterday (I plead guilty). As I've been arguing for the last month, something does seem to be happening at a regional level, [...]

This Week in Crazy: Tea Party the New Jews

By |January 21st, 2011|

TM NOTE: Texan4Hillary offers his perspective as a movement progressive activist. In this week in crazy, two items stand out from the Right that are making the rounds. One is Limbaugh’s remarks that apparently the Tea Party is now the persecuted Jew of Europe. That is the new meme on the Right. We saw it with Palin and “blood libel,” and saw it with references popping up in WSJ and elsewhere that the Tea Party is subject to “pogroms.” The other is that apparently the ring leader of these poor persecuted new Jews, Glenn Beck, shouted clearly that Democrats are Marxist enemies of America who hate George Washington and thus they must “be shot in the head.” Yikes. What set Rush off were some over the top remarks from Jewish Congressman Cohen (D) of Tennessee calling the GOP smears on the healthcare law very much like that of Nazi propaganda. Cohen immediately apologized but do not fear Rush one upped him. Here is fair and imbalanced Rush on the bitter persecution his Tea Party has had to endure: … Who are the new Jews Congressman Cohen? It’s not the Democrats. It’s the Tea Party. Beck on June 10 2010 made some rather insightful comments which, after Giffords, are getting new attention. Not funny stuff, Mr. Beck. Here is the clip and then the full transcript of what he said. As Fox News would say, You Decide. […]
