IT WAS a long night for Ben Affleck, waiting to see if his film, which garnered the Oscar for adapted screenplay, beating out Tony Kushner’s lush crafting of Lincoln, would win. But Affleck was rewarded in the end with the most coveted Oscar of all, Best Picture, with First Lady Michelle Obama making a surprise appearance and introduced by none other than Jack Nicholson.

You have to ask yourself how the best picture of the year got there without a director playing the lead role. But snubbed Ben Affleck was for best director.

It’s one of the more ridiculous things the Motion Picture Academy of Arts and Sciences does with Oscar.

Oh, and one last thing, keep the Jaws music for long speeches. It was priceless. No one wants to be Jaws’d.

…and the fashion? Magnifique!

UPDATE: …and then there’s this, taking on the Michelle Obama critics in the “prickish political press.” Just read it.
