THIS IS the most deserved evisceration of a politician in a long time, with no one asking for it more than Senator John McCain.

McCain absolutely deserves the skewing. He’s proven and publicly demonstrated that he can be just as craven and petty as any of his colleagues. And a damn hypocrite. I had a sliver of admiration for McCain for his years of service and for his maverick stands in the past. But he’s destroyed his credibility with this current nonsense and blather. He and Graham are now the whiny twins.
I wouldn’t be surprised if McCain loses the next Senate challenge because in addition to the Hagel fiasco, he’s once again changed his tune on immigration, spinning around to what his original policy position was–reform. Too bad the Republicans spent so much energy in demonizing all immigrants. Now they’re faced with the reality of demographics, whether the citizens of Arizona like it or not. Tea Party activists were ready to tar and feather McCain at a recent town hall meeting because of his reform support, which is the only sensible position to have. The extremist lather that the Far Right willingly whipped up to win votes is now coming back to bite them all in the arse. McCain was willing to ride that bucking horse when it was to his advantage.
And sorry, if Hagel said that GW was the worst Prez since Hoover, it’s a point to his credit. The Bush/Cheney administration was certainly the worst combo of my living memory. Iraq was an unnecessary debacle that cost this country dearly in blood and treasure and wreaked untold misery on hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens. And for what? For McCain to deny that sad, shameful truth is just another round of ‘don’t trust your lying eyes.’
There’s nothing Stewart can do to McCain that the man hasn’t done to himself, destroying his own reputation/legacy in one felled swoop. When you sleep with dogs . . . well, you know how that goes.
McCain just might not run again. His last Tea Party opponent was only stopped by the female juggernaut herself… and his “build the dang fence” campaign.
Sarah Palin’s interest in Arizona was a natural when it was first floated.
Palin would be PERFECT in the Senate, finally and for all time symbolizing what Republicans have turned into today.
What a headache she’d be for the RINOs who are trying to take their party back.
SORRY… got lost in a Tea Party fog for a minute. But what a hoot it all would be.
I don’t know whether it would be a hoot or a nightmare, Taylor. Sarah Palin in the Senate! I wouldn’t put it past her. Running, that is. There’s a lot you can say about Palin but the woman’s definitely not short on guts. And it would bring her back into the spotlight, which has been growing ever more dim since the Tucson shooting and her repellent response. The celebrity-driven media would go completely nuts. That part would be fun to watch.
Senator Palin. Hey, we’re living in crazy land. Stranger things have happened :0).
“McCain just might not run again.”
I hope son. watching McCain self destruck cowtowing to the most bigoted and delusional elements in the repugnantKLAN/teabagger/UBERChristofascist mob has been one of the saddest spectacles I have had to watch in my entire life.
At one point I had nothing but respect bordering on hero worship for this man. What he endured in service to his country in the military and his earlyer political life were shining examples of principled behavior under the most extreme circumstances. But he was consumed by the ravenous beast that has crawled out of the morally constipated bowels of the American psyche that controls…or out of controls the former republican party and is now a pathetic, cranky old man spouting invective and party speak. Sad…so very sad.
