I really liked the President’s speech. You can tell he has a more relaxed and confident stride. He has come into his own, with running for re-election no longer a worry. I like the bolder Obama! I am very glad he brought up voting and gun control – both issues that I think he takes very personally. It was hard not to tear up, seeing the parents and loved ones of gun violence victims. I can see from the speech that President Obama will try to accomplish as much as he can, piece by piece. I think he has the correct strategies to get something done, and it’s a good thing he is such a savvy politician. He may be the best politician I have ever seen. I’m proud of him and am pulling for him. Progressives need to keep pushing him… and Congress. I do feel the country is currently supporting center-left policies such as gay marriage, Medicare, Social Security, some gun control measures, education, Wall Street reform, etc.
