Early exit polls released on Tuesday evening show that about half of voters still blame President George W. Bush more than President Barack Obama for the country’s economic problems and most cite the economy as their top issue in the election. [...] Voters are split on the direction of the country: 46 percent say it’s headed in the right direction, while 52 percent said it’s still on the wrong track. – Exit polls 2012: Voters blame George W. Bush
THE POLLS on the east coast are now closed, with the guessing (yes, I’m bullish, as you’ll see if you click on the link!) about to be placed by reality.
Senator Bernie Sanders, the hero of Social Security, earns his reelection.
And voting in New Jersey has been extended to Friday.
We await… Tim Kaine over George Allen. Sherrod Brown. Elizabeth Warren. …Claire McCaskill… Joe Donnelly over Richard Mourdock.
One first-time voter voted, then went into labor!
“I never voted before so this made a major difference in my life,” she said. “And I wanted this to be a stepping-stone for my daughter.”
1:05 a.m. – Virginia is called for President Obama. Florida is too close to call and will not be decided this evening.
Also… Alan Grayson wins and is coming back to Congress.
11:11: p.m. – President Obama wins Iowa, the state where it all started. To all of the elite journalists who pontificated that the Des Moines Register matters, take note. Obama won Iowa, not Mitt Romney.
TIM KAINE!!!!!!!!!!!! I went from luke warm on Kaine to very positive. HE did that by running one hell of a campaign. VA lucky to have him.

THE KENNEDY’S ARE BACK IN CONGRESS… Joe Kennedy III will serve Massachusetts’ 4th Congressional District, Barney Franks’ seat (so to speak).
10:09 p.m. – NBC calls it for Claire McCaskill. A woman’s body is not your social issue, pal.

Some of these new Democratic senators are going to make the Very Serious People in Washington a little uncomfortable.

9:42 p.m.: CBS calls New Hampshire for President Obama. NBC has it “too close to call.” NBC calls it, too (9:50 p.m.)

9:25 p.m. – Fox News calls Wisconsin for President Obama. This will be a major point of Wednesday morning quarter-backing.
Important Note: Exits show younger voters, under 30, came out to rival 2008: 19% today, 18% in ’08.
9:15 p.m. – Pennsylvania called for President Obama [NBC] It was always a massive fake out that Team Romney thought they could wrestle this state away from the Democrats.
9:10 p.m. – NBC calls Pennsylvania for Bob Casey.
AP RACE CALL: Democrat Chris Murphy wins Senate seat in Connecticut. #Election2012

Fox News Channel began the Romney post-mortem not long after 8:00 p.m., with Bill O’Reilly laying it all on Sandy, Chris Christie, though didn’t invoke God’s wrath on the right (kidding). He segued slyly to Team Romney playing things safe after the first debate by not taking any chances, including no media. Throughout the last few weeks O’Reilly has continually made the point that Romney wouldn’t do “The Factor.” Eric Boehlert of Media Matters is someone besides myself who believes Romney’s media strategy has been a disaster. FNC is looking very grim and the night has just begun.

Is anyone having a wee nip o’ the creature tonight?
heheh… You might have to translate that one, Sandmann.
It was a shot in the dark…Is anyone dusting off the harder stuff in their liquor cabinets for a quick shot or two?
I’m having a few Yuengling’s myself.
Nice.
I’ve got Silver in the freezer… shots to come, for sure.
Taylor,
Thanks. I have followed you since 2008 and you haven’t let me down..Thanks for an information filled election 2012..T
tonyb39 in the house!
Appreciate you stopping by.
Here’s hoping for a Dan Maffei victory in Syracuse.
Heya Joe.
I’ll keep fingers crossed.
It looks like Obama is hanging in there.
Warren did it!
Warren wins in Mass! Mccaskill wins in Missouri! Dems will hold senate.
Wouldn’t miss tonight here at your place! I’m here everyday too..Thanks to all who comment as well..
WHAT. A NIGHT.
REAL progressives are headed to Washington, tonyb39!
WHAT A FRICKIN’ NIGHT.
I’m ECSTATIC.
Have you guys been watching FOX???? Oh, it’s precious…
I never tune into FAUX News but you have my attention. I might just have to tune in.
Love this blog. Thanks for it, Taylor!
Hey girl, you must be JAZZED.
The pundits on Fox humiliated themselves.
Oh, and Peggy Noonan? She shouldn’t show her face after all that bullshit about the Catholic Church and abortion, Obama & health care.
I’ve been watching for days listening to Fox say Romney’s going to crush Obama & Democrats. The surge, yeah right.
Oh Taylor, no, what have they been saying?
They are slack-jawed at what’s happening. As the Senate calls came out, Joe Trippi was basically bitch-slapping Karl Rove, who laid it all on the line to kill Elizabeth Warren.
Their big news was John Boehner speaking!
Chuck Todd said out loud, this isn’t Sandy, it’s demographics, what I’ve been writing about. It’s tremendously exciting!!!
Alex Castellanos on CBS said that Obama could win Florida, which I bullishly predicted in the link at top. He said that the race is turning into a repudiation not of Mitt Romney, but the entire Republican Party.
We need that badly in this country.
We need Republicans to let go of my body and your life, to quit playing scorched earth. We have serious problems and need serious people, not two right leaning parties that take prisoners of principles.
Wow, sounds precious..Well said to regarding two right leaning parties, i agree so much..
Kaine is in, and Alan Grayson is back to cause mass GOP heartburn.
The President has just won, Ohio, Iowa called for Obama.
