@davidaxelrod “I’m so confident of that I’ve put my mustache on the line.” Talking about Romney SUPER Pac ads running in MI, MN of PA

ON A CONFERENCE call this morning Team Obama pulled all the political quips and sports metaphors out of their Halloween grab bag, making the hard sell on Obama’s current trajectory to win next Tuesday.
Axelrod said he “can only bet his moustache once,” but he believes Obama will win a close race in Virginia. He also brushed away the “myth of the wave” that people like Dick Morris are pushing.
Messina continually citing Romney as “flailing” in the last days of the race.
Axelrod gets in a Halloween shot at Romney, “masquerade as a champion of the auto industry.”

I caught Morning Joe today and the bluster has really gone out of the discussion. The Romney cheerleaders did not look happy with those Ohio numbers coming in and the narrow leads in the critical swing states holding, numbers that Obama has had all along. If the election goes as I suspect [Obama wins] there’s going to be a whole lot of crow served up to these ‘pundits.’ Halperin looked positively grim.
What a carnival. Looking forward to see Scarborough [or as Charles Pierce calls him "Squint"] wearing Axelrod’s mustache. That in itself is worth waiting for!
Team Romney, with help of FNC and others, including Halperin & Scarborough too, has done a masterful job of expectations and “momentum” chumming. However, if Obama wins Ohio, which I’ve always believed he will, the domino effect that will follow will have a lot of people looking very silly, especially FNC.
As for Axe’s moustache, for Scarborough to wear it Obama would have to LOSE MN, MI, & PA, though he might only win 2 out of the 3. I’m simply not sure at this point.
Very doubtful Romney will win Minnesota, and I expect he won’t get PA either.
If Romney wins Minnesota, he’s probably already been projected the winner of the national election, and we have a 1980/1992 election in which all the undecideds broke late for the challenger.
If Romney wins Minnesota, he’s probably already won North Carolina, Florida, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Michigan, and it’s all over.
I don’t think this is that kind of an election. I think it comes down to Ohio, and Obama pulls it off by a solid 4-5 points in that state. Popular vote? Much closer, but who knows?
As of Oct 29th Obama holds a 8 point lead, which has been steady for over a month.
That 8 point lead is in Minnesota
I can’t wait until Nov. 7th when the “polls” will finally have closed.
