“It’s quite good, actually,” Clinton said of their relationship. “It’s candid, it’s open. We haven’t been close friends a long time or anything like that, but he knows that I support him.” [The Hill]
MAKING THE CASE is what he does. Making an emotional connection with people is how he does it. The political power of persuasion of William Jefferson Clinton has been his most reliable tool. But the talent he has for taking raw information and massaging it to make his point is where the magic lies.
If Ronald Wilson Reagan was the great communicator…
William Jefferson Clinton is the greatest communicator.

“greatest communicator”….. good point
Absolutely, and I say this through disagreements with former Pres. Clinton on policy.
I just want to see Bill pulverize the lying SOB Republicans who now “love” him and Hillary so darn much. Impeachment, accusing them of drug running and murder! And, on and on and on for 8 GD years! Get em, Billy!
A-R-I-T-H-M-A-T-I-C!!!! I love it!
Bill gave a great speech and hit the republicans in all their lies without being vindictive or hateful. He laid out all the facts and let them stand on their own. He is the best politician I have seen in my lifetime and he hit the ball out of the park as to why Obama should be reelected.
I want to be clear here. As much as I disdained what the GOP did to Bill and HIllary for years, I disdained what they did (and still do) to Obama as well. All the lies they spewed about Obama were/are obscene. I can sympathize with Obama because of what the GOP did to him and still disagree with some of his policies.
What moved me was what he said about hate. After all the GOP did to him and his family over the years, he said he didn’t hate them in turn. And, I believed him. Clinton has never been about hate for anyone.
Just finished watching Bill’s speech. What can I say. It was gorgeous, brilliant, on point. He pulverized Romeny/Ryan’s BS into smitherines. Point for point on issues, Bill Clinton made the case against Romney/Ryan’s blatent lies and dangerous policy perscriptions.
It was great to see how he revved up that audience. What a counterpoint to the GOP prevarications and mendacities for all these years. It was also great to see Chelsea Clinton in the audience supporting her father.
Bill Clinton policywise did for Obama what Michele Obama did for Obama personal-wise.
Wow. Just Wow!
Truism: there is no one in the GOP who can do what Bill Clinton did tonight.
There is no one in politics who can do what Bill Clinton did tonight.
Another truism.
Obama does not deserve what Clinton did for him and I know Obama would not do the same for Clinton or anyone else. If he’s reelected I can assure you he will not do Clinton, or all the other people who helped him, proud.
Will its obvious that Bill Clinton does not agree with you, and I find it interesting that you think you know the mind of the President. For people who hate Obama it does not matter what anyone says including Clinton.
People like fangio are going to cling to their hatred of President Obama not matter what. Even if their heroes like Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton who have actually stood in the same room as President Obama say otherwise! Fangio has never met President Obama or had any direct dealings with in any way but somehow he knows what he will and won’t do! just incredible!
You are so full of it. President Clinton himself specifically mentioned in his speech how many of Hillary Clinton supporters President Obama put in his cabinet including Hillary as Secretary of State! Stop lying!
Wow!! Nobody does it like Bill Clinton – takes the complex and simplifies it for all to understand. He destroyed the Republican argument with a great mix of humor, folksiness, and sobriety. I think he was tremendous tonight.
Absolutely nobody.
I am still SWOONING!!!
heheheh… Did you see the close-ups of the women in the hall? You weren’t alone.
I’ve been listening to MSNBC and their commenters. I have to say I’m starting to lose respect for Chris Hayes. His comments about Clinton (both Clintons) during the broadcast were just silly and showed his youth and subjectivity whilst his “defense” of Obama was ponderous and borish especially knowing that his wife works for Obama.
I lost respect for Chris Hays the first time he invited a group of Democratic party candidates for office to use his show for free advertising while pretending to be a panel of experts on everything from foreign policy to the budget.
No, wait- it was when for no reason at all he invited an old High School chum to come on the show and yuk it up over their glory days in the AV club. No kidding.
No, wait- it was the first time he did that stupid, practically-spittling exaggerated GEE ITS SO AWESOME I HAVE A SHOW AND CHECK OUT THE MSNBC REGULARS IVE CONVINCED TO DO COMMERCIALS FOR THEIR OWN SHOW HERE TODAY bit.
Lesson to MSNBC: Don’t give guys who have barely started shaving their own “news” shows and expect us to take them seriously. Hays makes Melissa Harris-Perry look serious. That’s very hard to do.
Hmmm! U don’t like President Obama or Al Sharpton or Melissa Harris Perry? So basically what your saying is that you have a problem with educated successful African Americans? Bad news dude! African American participation in the progressive movement will only increase as the years go by and they will be bringing their issues to the table just like gays, Hispanics and women do! The days of minorities being content with pulling up the rear in Dem politics is long over and if u got a prob with that, too bad! Bill Clinton’s speech is a example of what a real liberal sounds like and looks like. His liberalism includes everyone not just the people he personally identifies with.
Most critical of note- linton put Medicaid on the map for this election. The uncool program for the poor is on the tongue. With 2/3of medicaid for nursing care for those on MEDICARE , and Ryan wanting to cut it 1/3, MEDICARE would die broe in 2016. Not to menton the lives destroyed.
Art, well said!
One more thing about MSNBC and I’m calling it a night.
Rev. Al Sharpton said this, paraphrasing. The Republicans going after Obama was worse then the Republicans going after the Clintons because (wait for it) no one asked to see the Clintons birth certificates.
Really? Asking to see Obama’s birth cerificate (no matter that the tea party nuts weren’t ever going to believe whatever the Hawaiian officials provided to the public) was worse than accusing the Clintons of drug running and murder? Really?
Sharpton and Hayes both need to get their heads in order but I’m not holding my breath. They are both so deep in the Obama weeds, they are seeing what Jon Stewart said of the Republicans when Clint Eastwood yelled at that invisible Obama chair.
“I now get it, there is a President Obama that only Republicans can see”
Night.
Al Sharpton- another person I see on MSNBC and quickly turn the channel. Circus Clown and race-baiter who will never be rehabilitated in my book.
Because as we all know racism doesn’t exist but reverse racism does!
Awesome speech. No one knows how to bring hope back like Bill Clinton. I really hope Obama brings it tonight. What a great 1-2-3 punch with Michelle, Bill, and Barack it will be!
All the republicans have at this point is: but… but… but… Remember Monica Lewinsky?
Oh and Paul Ryan climbed all the Mountains in the world. Actually, he ran up all of them in less than 2 hours.
