Half of Women Prefer Working Outside the Home

THIS IS not a surprise to me.

Women aged 50 and older are slightly more likely than women aged 18 to 49 to indicate a preference for staying home: 48% vs. 41%. However, about half of both groups of women would rather have a job outside the home. [Gallup]

I’m not surprised at this finding, Taylor. When “Rosie the Riverters” went to work during WW II they discovered amongst other things, financial freedom and freedom from the drudgery of housework, etc. Do all women feel this way? Of course not, and that’s ok because it’s different strokes for different folks. Did I prefer working outside the home? Yes, I had a sense of freedom that I didn’t feel I had when I was at home. I was in control of my own money and making my own decisions. Of course, my husband had died leaving me with 4 kids, the youngest was 3, so I was more less forced to go to work.

I’m sorry for your loss, and the hardships you had to put up with. That being said, women in this country should have the same rights and freedoms that men take for granted. It is sad when we have one political party that would try to take all that away. A party that has fought against equal pay for equal work, that has fought to take away a women’s right to control their own bodies.

Women should have the same choices in life that men have, and to have mainly a bunch of old white men stand in the way of this is a crime.

angels81 – I’m in total agreement. Women should enjoy the fruits of 100% citizenship. A man is allowed to control his body? why shouldn’t a woman have the same right? If I do the same job that a man does, why shouldn’t I receive the same pay? I’m retired now for more than 10 years. The fight was not easy. I have a whole slew of stories about the “the days of the past.” My one wish was that we wouldn’t be fighting for the right to choose and the right to equal pay in the 21st century. I have granddaughters. They will have to continue the fight.

I also have two wonderful granddaughters and I see red when I see these clowns try to take away their rights to be whatever they want to be. Our granddaughters are going to have big problems in their future with climate change, and all what that means, without having to fight old wars for control of their bodies and their freedoms. I must say, I don’t envy the world they will have to live in, and it angers me to see old white asshole men making their life and future even harder.

It’s unbelievable that we’re still waiting, with Republicans STILL VOTING NO.
