The Dems better have their act together today to counter what Ryan said in that speech because the lies were coming out of his two-faced mouth as fast and furious as a runaway train.

Either side could use this video.

R/R should use it to show how the media and Obama are a team.

Oh and about that GM plant, Barrie and the media actually lied.  GM plant closed in June 2009.

Thanks for the link, newdealdem1. Just to be clear, the important FACTS from this link ARE:

…So, the plant closed while Bush was still in office, about a month before Obama was inaugurated.

Ryan said Obama broke his promise to keep a Wisconsin GM plant from closing. But we don’t see evidence he explicitly made such a promise — and more importantly, the Janesville plant shut down before he took office.

      We rate Ryan’s statement False.

        Thanks, ladywalker. ;)

    whatever.

I will take my article written in Sept 19, 2011 over your article conveniently written Aug. 29, 2012.
As I have said before, the media and Obama are a team.
But you can go ahead and believe the ‘Liar in Chief” and his state controlled media.
The point Paul Ryan directly and clearly made is completely valid: faulting Obama for promising to keep it open, and then failing to deliver on that promise.

Here is another independent article written June 26, 2009.

Two other GM assembly plants in Spring Hill, Tenn. and Janesville, Wis. were also under consideration to build the future small car. Spring Hill will be placed in standby capacity status in Nov. 2009, as announced earlier this month. The plant could be brought online at some point in the future should GM require additional capacity due to increased market demand. Janesville was placed on standby capacity in May 2009 and will remain in that status.

“I will take my article written in Sept 19, 2011 over your article conveniently written Aug. 29, 2012.”

With due respect, report dates are irrelevent. Also, take a close look at the newspaper you linked to in your original comment. First, the politifact report was written by the same newspaper, the Journal Sentinel (which is one of the newspapers that participate in the Politifact Organization) to which you linked in your original comment. Second, they are critiquing Paul Ryan’s veracity in his speech given on August 29th 2012. How could they write a critique of yesterday’s speech any time earlier? The date of the report is irrelevant.

Further, I’m not trying to change your mind how you feel about President Obama. That’s your business how you feel about him.

    Daniel Patrick Moynihan once said:

“You are entitled to your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.”

But newdealem1, that’s what people do – they would prefer to take information that fits their world view and believe it rather than the actual truth. I’m an old researcher so I don’t believe anything anyone says or that I read or hear. I research all of my stuff and if it goes against what I thought then I have to look at the problem differently.

“But newdealem1, that’s what people do – they would prefer to take information that fits their world view and believe it rather than the actual truth”

Yes, most people do just that, that’s why Moynihan’s comment is so appropos especially in the last decade.

“I’m an old researcher so I don’t believe anything anyone says or that I read or hear. I research all of my stuff and if it goes against what I thought then I have to look at the problem differently.”

Same here. It’s the only way to get the correct solution to problems (serious or not). Like you, I’ve been trained to not only try to get to the right answer, and like you, I have a professional ethics reponsiblity to do it. There is truth and then there’s not. I am sick of all of these prevarications.

Watch Ryan do to Obama what Obama did to Hillary :-D

‘Watch Ryan do to Obama what Obama did to Hillary ‘

What specifically are you referring to?

  8. Sasha August 30, 2012 at 12:45 pm #

The ‘Obama fact-checker’ says the plant was closed in 2008. It was announced that it would close in 2008, however it was not closed until June 2009. Feb. 2008 Obama promised to keep it open and under the Obama economy it remains closed today.

I am hearing that Romney/Ryan may hold a rally in Janesville with the workers who were laid off in June 2009.
