PUSSY RIOT GETS TWO YEAR JAIL SENTENCE
The judge has called the crime a conspiracy driven by hatred of religion and the court does “not trust” the testimony of the band members because it is an attempt to “evade justice” and proven to be false. THE JUDGE is still reading what appears to be a very long-winded verdict.
The video above is what got the Pussy Riot in trouble in the first place.
Punk rock still rules when it comes to social disobedience and these women have brought it back to relevancy in a very big way.
I heard up to seven years imprisonment. I hope the widespread condemnation of the trial and verdict will help make authorities stop and think.
Civil / Social disobedience is showing up more again, in different ways. Music is always a part of it, from folk to blues to rock to punk and more.
This verdict is about them standing up to President Putin. He can’t stand for anyone to dare speak out against him. Yes, they should not have went into the Church and did what they did, but they felt bad and apologized for that, but they said they will not apologize for speaking out against President Putin and they shouldn’t. The band is going becoming famous around the World. And I don’t think Russia should be hosting the Winter Olympics in 2014, then again, this could give Pussy Riot there chance to bring even more attention to the way Putin is running Russia.
Thanks for posting. I was wondering what this group was all about. They do look like “hooligans” in the video. I feel that Putin and the Church have done more to help this band then anything else. Without civil disobedience, there is no freedom. These ladies are not asking for anything, they are just expressing themselves. If what they are saying did not have any truth to it, there would not be such a strong reaction against them.
When I was in High School the Punk scene was huge in DC. Henry Rollins, Minor Threat, Bad Brains, Government Issue, and many more. Pussy Riot sort of reminds me of the San Francisco band The Dead Kennedy’s especially their song “Religious Vomit” which lyrics include”

I personally do not like to see a Church or any place of Worship attacked. I know, as almost every American knows, that the Freedom of Speech is a Right endowed to every person by our Creator A.K.A God.
