China’s Qin Kai, who was leading at the time, completely mis-timed one of his last dives, drawing a dismal score of 3.5. Britain also fell foul of the disastrous night, with Jack Laugher, ranked seventh in the world, suffering a “knee buckle” on his final dive as his legs gave way.
