Jon Stewart Unloads on Harry Reid, Eric Fehrnstrom Uses the Opening: ‘Have You No Decency, Sir’

WHEN SEN. REID first unloaded the allegations on Monday, I wrote that without verification they were worthless. Reid offered no proof, while forwarding unsubstantiated allegations that Mitt Romney hadn’t paid his taxes in 10 years. But Reid’s words could now be cashed in as far as Team Romney sees it.

Jon Stewart provided the perfect opening last night for Fehrnstrom, who didn’t waste any time on Thursday, blasting Reid on Fox News Channel. From Huffington Post:

“Have you no decency, sir?”

“I don’t think there is anything behind it. He hasn’t produced any evidence,” Fehrnstrom said Thursday in an interview with Fox News. “I’m telling you speaking on behalf of the governor that those charges are untrue, they are baseless and there is nothing to back them up.”

Majority Leader Reid isn’t backing down. The problem is that he’s turning into the story.

Someone said that during his boxing days he used live rabbits as boxing gloves during practice. Horrible, simply horrible. Poor little bunnies.

The burden is on Reid to prove that this is false, not anyone else.

wow, guyski, I hope the bunny story isn’t true. That’s disgusting.

Reid is wrong for spreading this trash without sources willing to be named. I personally don’t believe Romney has anything to hide, he just doesn’t want to be told how to play the game.

Reid is making the democratic party appear desperate.

I’ve never seen you criticize your own, cjoblak, NEVER. Not like most of the rest of us who call ourselves liberals who have criticized our own. Sorry but for that very reason, your criticism of Dems and liberals falls flat on it’s false face!

And I understand Ms. Romney liked to role play Cathrine the Great with her Dressage Horse and that’s why they had to sedate it so heavily before they sold it.
Did Reid land a low blow? Yes…….but he just this once behaved like the entire repugnantklan/teabagger/faux not news/UBERChristian mob does EVERY SINGLE DAY.
And haey, Mitt the Twit can settle this and shame Reid very easily….by releasing his taxes.
“I personally don’t believe Romney has anything to hide, he just doesn’t want to be told how to play the game.”
Hell, that’s even LESS believable then Ms. Romney the Great!!!

      You exaggerate too much, Sec.

      • Cujo359 August 2, 2012 at 2:54 pm #

Quite often, but sadly for the state of American political discourse, this is not one of those times.

        • cjoblak@hotmail.com August 2, 2012 at 3:51 pm #

Surely, you can’t be serious, Cujo. Let’s be fair, now.

        • newdealdem1 August 2, 2012 at 9:48 pm #

          Strongly second!

          • newdealdem1 August 2, 2012 at 9:50 pm #

I strongly second what Cujo said.

            I QUITE OFTEN EXAGGERATE?!!!!!!!!

In stuff like this the Democrats just don’t have the ‘finesse’ that the Republicans do. With Romney’s taxes; just imply something is not right. Bain, just generally put something out there, no need to use the word felon. Even with the Chick-fil-A stuff, Democrats can’t help themselves with going overboard. And with the dressage, someone will overdo that as well.

“Bain, just generally put something out there, no need to use the word felon.”
Why not? If he indeed lied on the financial disclosures he committed a FELONY.

“Even with the Chick-fil-A stuff, Democrats can’t help themselves with going overboard. ”
If you are refering to the dim bulbs who are trying to use their official capacity to keep Hate-fill-A out, you actually are correct. OMGawd what ain’t even THERE!!!!!

“And with the dressage, someone will overdo that as well.”
Please see my comment on that on another thread.

          First of all, generalize much?!!

With that comment you are either an extreme partisan, a moron, a liar or a troll looking to stir up shit.

Do you really want me to make a list of Republicans who are not only walking the OVERBOARD plank but are the very definition of extremeism and “elephants in a china shop”.Are there sane, intelligent Republicans? Yes, there are many of them but ALMOST NONE of them are holding political office at the moment.

Just ask me and I’ll be only too glad to accomodate!

That comment was in response to guyski

            Now now…don’t exaggerate!!

Classic, coming from a well educated mature individual.

And by the way; commenting on how political parties handle their little tit for tats is opinion, not partisan, not moronic, not a liar, or a troll.

Btw, I want to make clear, I’m no fan of Harry Reid. In fact, I think he’s one of the worst, ir not THE worst Senate Majority Leaders EVER! In fact, before SOS Clinton was nominated by Prez Obama to be SOS, I wanted her to challenge Reid for Senate Leader. I’m in agreement with Taylor and with Stewart about this fool.

    • Cujo359 August 2, 2012 at 11:00 pm #

I’m in agreement with Taylor and with Stewart about this fool.

As am I. It’s doing nothing for our political discourse, though as we’ve noted, it’s not making things any worse, either.

      • newdealdem1 August 2, 2012 at 11:07 pm #

        Agreed, Cujo!
