Sen. Mitch McConnell: 30 Million Uninsured Don’t Matter

screencapture from Huffington Post on Sunday

“That is not the issue,” Sen. Mitch McConnell said. “The question is how to go step by step to improve the American health care system. It is already the finest health care system in the world.” – Huffington Post

SPEAKING FOR THE 1%, Sen. Mitch McConnell reveals what matters to the right and the Republican elite. As long as the U.S. has “the finest health care system in the world,” it hardly matters if tens of millions of middle class and poor Americans have access.

Let them use band-aids.

The GOP “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” mentality spoken in a way no one can misunderstand or misconstrue.

What planet is this guy from???

By the way, Taylor, band-aids will cost you $5.00 each. We have to support the “job creators….”

If you work for the People(that’s nasty sarcasm there) in an elected position or are rich enough we do!

Well I suppose one could say even with the disappointment that Obama hasn’t done everything he said he would and his reliance on corporate money there actually IS a difference between the parties huh?

    • Taylor Marsh July 2, 2012 at 10:21 am #

Actually, Barack Obama has done exactly as I warned he would from the start. So, I’ve never been “disappointed” at all and nobody who’s been a regular reader should be either.

Hey, but keep that “lesser evils” hamster wheel going, sech. I certainly understand Democratic partisans making the points you and others do. McConnell makes it easy.

The other reality is that whether it’s Obama or Romney, some sort of “grand bargain” will be up for grabs. Anyone participating in that should be held responsible as being part of the problem in this country.

Laziness rules our elections, especially on the part of the citizenry.

Taylor, some of us who are new to your blog are as unsurprised as you are about Obama. Anyone who bothered to pay close attention to his record saw it coming.
uh oh: I’m with you. Any country that is #1

  5. StrideHyde July 2, 2012 at 11:17 am #

    Arrgh!! Second time that’s happened.
uh oh: I’m with you. Any country that’s #1 in health care spending and #37 in patient outcomes does not have the “best system.”

No surprises regarding Obama and the Dems. No surprises regarding Romney and the Repubs. Just more of the same. But there are more people saying loudly and consistently: “The Emperor (whether Red or Blue) has no clothes!” He (and occasionally she) probably does use a flag for cover, though.

Many years ago a physician I knew in Europe said the following to me,”In the United States you have the best medical technology in the world, and the worst distribution.”

What Mitch the Great Turtle is saying is that he’s perfectly fine with that type of distribution, as long as he and his class enjoy the fruits of it. Whatever happens to the surplus population is of no consequence to him; Darwinian governing is the purest form of compassion.

The Health Insurance Profit Protection Act of 2009 is a joke in some ways. In others it finally addresses the maldistribution of medical access in this nation. To say it is imperfect is an understatement, as it reflects the corporatist in the White House. But, in this case the arguements against it are quickly passing beyond the individual mandate to the basic philosophical difference between caring about the citizenry and the supremacy of profit.

mrpister: the Health Insurance Profit Protection (HIPP?) of 2009, what is that? The PPACA was passed in 2010.

    • mrpister July 2, 2012 at 1:03 pm #

      Sorry, Stride

The is my term for the ACA, or “Obamacare.” A little ill today so I may be wrong on what year that law was passed. :?: ;-)

  9. StrideHyde July 2, 2012 at 1:08 pm #

Thought so. It was passed on 3/23/10.
    Feel better
