THE GAFFERIFFIC foreign policy tour of Mitt Romney has finally gotten to his campaign team.
Walking through Pilsudski Square in Poland, the traveling press corps started yelling questions at Mr. Romney, asking about his string of gaffes, particularly related to the Palestinians, who were furious at what Pres. Abbas labeled “racist” comments.
CNN has the transcript of what transpired between Romney’s traveling press secretary Rick Gorka and the press, which involves the words “Kiss my ass, this is a Holy site… show some respect,” all in the same sentence:
CNN: “Governor Romney are you concerned about some of the mishaps of your trip?
NYT: “Governor Romney do you have a statement for the Palestinians?
Washington Post: “What about your gaffes?
NYT: “Governor Romney do you feel that your gaffes have overshadowed your foreign trip?”
CNN: “Governor Romney just a few questions sir, you haven’t taken but three questions on this trip from the press!
Gorka: “Show some respect”
NYT: “We haven’t had another chance to ask a question…”
Gorka: “Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect.”
Moments later, Gorka told Jonathan Martin to “shove it.”
Gorka apologized, calling his public press meltdown “inappropriate.”
Unfortunately, it gave a very transparent viewing of the pressure inside the Romney campaign after a trip that was supposed to show Mitt Romney as presidential, but instead has revealed him as ill-prepared and amateurish on the international stage, as well as so insecure about his own prowess that he felt compelled to insult London on the Olympics, talk about private MI-6 meetings, and diss a primary Middle East peace player, while rattling sabers on Iran, with the net result of the candidate’s behavior leading to his chief communication’s aide coming unglued.

“Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect.”
You can’t make this shit up….you just CAN’T!!!!!
I know!
Twitter was a scream this morning…
Wow, just wow!
I don’t remember a political campaign and it’s candidate this incompetent or imploding before the public’s eyes while it’s happening.
Romney and his campaign have become the political equivalent of Typhoid Mary.
Taylor, I saw your comment and linked article about Nettanyahu’s cabinet raising taxes as Romney was leaving Israel. His European tour is going from worse to worser (sic) LOLZ
Yes New Deal Dem, this has got to be the worst campaign since Dukakis or maybe even McGovern. But we political junkies knew that Mitt was weak; we just did not know how much. The Republican Party needs to have a super-boffo convention to push the reset button on this farce. Still, if team Romney falls appart this bad in the Silly Season, what chance do they have when Team Chicago brings out the sharp knives after Labor Day? Obama has a real chance to FUD his way into another four years.
I’ve predicted that Obama would lose this election, but I’m starting to get the same vibe. The only thing standing between Mitt Romney and the White House right now is Mitt Romney, but he seems determined to get in the way.
The Romney Campaign was getting killed this morning on twitter! The tweets this morning were funnier than any Mel Brooks movie! This is a holy site, kiss my ass, show some respect, shove it! HaHaHa! Good stuff!
Kiss My Ass This Is A Holy site will go down as this election cycles I Can See Russia From House!
For those who love irony, I suspect this will be a banner election year.
A Brit, a Jew and a Pole walk into a bar, they turn to each other, laugh, and say together “Mitt Romney…what a douchebag.”
If Romney can’t handle himself in foreign affairs and his team implodes under pressure how is this country supposed to trust him or the people around him with the economy? If this is any indication of what the Republicans have to offer the USA for the next 4 years I think they should be heading for the hills.
My thoughts too Jane. If a trivial bit of rhubarb has Team Mittens unraveling now; what the hell happens when that phone rings at three in the morning?
Unfortunately Jane, even in my blue state, I am already seeing a lot of Romney bumper stickers that make me want to puke. Like it or not, a lot of people are not happy with Obama and they would rather have anybody but him in the White House.
I wish we had better choices than either Obama or Romney. Some states do but if you vote for Jill Stein, Democratic Party/Obama loyalists effectively accuse you of wanting to end life on earth as we now know it…
Ladywalker68 – I am not happy with Obama either but does that mean we elect someone that could bring complete disaster to this country? Romney is totally incompetent as a manager if his team is any indication. I have no idea how I’m going to vote in November; however I know it won’t be for Romney. He really does scare me. I fear that he will get us into another war and this time it will be with Iran.
Well, Jane, if Obama gets a second term, there are no guarantees that we won’t get into another war somewhere. Obamacare is a hot mess and a gift to the insurance companies and with the Supreme Court ruling made it even a bigger hot mess.
My guess is Obama will put the Grand Bargain on the table so it will be curtains for Social Security as we know it just as i reach an age where I should be able to get back what I paid into the system for the last 40 years.
I guess what I am saying is Obama is a disaster too, albeit less of one. So we would vote for little disaster versus BIG DISASTER??
Obama is a disaster too? Please! What a load! I find it funny that you picked today of all days to call Obamacare a hot mess given that today is the the day that a lot the provisions in that law protecting women’s health kick in. Starting today health insurance companies have to cover a string of screenings for different diseases effecting.
For the record when the then candidate Barack Obama made his first overseas trip July 2008, The Washington Post described the trip as gaffeless and picture perfect! Go look up how that same newspaper is describing Romney’s trip!
That glass half empty thing you got going on there is what plagues the progressive movement and is ultimately self defeating.
Correction: It was The Washington Times, a con newspaper which makes their assessments of the two trips even more devastating for the The Romney Campaign!
“Kiss my ass. This is a Holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect.”
What a great coda to this foreign trip clown car. Team Chicago has to be smiling ear-to-ear about this gift handed to them.
I guess it’s ok to use vulgarity at a Holy site but it’s not ok to ask questions?
