Republicans Continue Pushing Tax Cuts for the Wealthiest

DEMOCRATS LED the fight in the Senate to draw down from the Bush era financial malfeasance, with Republicans balking on what the American people have said they want, which is that higher income Americans do their patriotic duty to pay their fair share in the midst of tough economic times.

The Senate on Wednesday narrowly approved a plan to preserve tax cuts for the middle class while letting them expire for the wealthy, a powerful if largely symbolic victory for Democrats who have been pushing to raise taxes on the rich for more than a decade. The measure is dead on arrival in the Republican-controlled House, where leaders are preparing to vote next week on their own plan to extend the George W. Bush-era tax cuts for households at every income level through 2013. – Senate passes bill to keep tax cuts for the middle class

The Republican-controlled House wants to mimic the Senate’s vote, which is to continue giving tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans.

As I’ve written many times before, my stance is that all Bush era tax cuts should be rolled back, because our politicians today don’t have the right stuff to trim the Pentagon budget, so they’re use “reforming” entitlements to do what revenue from taxes should be doing instead.

Joe Scarborough was pushing his usual meme this morning about Democrats raising taxes on small businesses. Ugh. Does he think anyone really believes this trope?

I’m amazed at what people believe today. If it fits their view of the world they will believe it regardless of whether the facts support it or not. They don’t do the research nor do they want to because it might cause them to change their opinion. Like all those poor people who are on the “government dole” because they don’t want to vote. It’s easier believing I lie if it fits into what you want to believe.

Sorry for the typo. The sentence should have read:

“Like all those poor people who are on the “government dole” because they don’t want to work.”

Bet you anything he was playing on Gallup’s latest poll.

Scarborough, as I’ve proved through my own dealings with him, is duplicitous at best. He gets away with it by portraying the part of the “affable conservative” on MJ. He’s a particular favorite with elite, conservative Dems, which viewers of that show see every day, starting with Harold Ford, Jr.

The Gallup poll is perfect for him: “U.S. Business Owners Now Among Least Approving of Obama”

Well, why shouldn’t they? Seems to working for them.
