Huma Abedin Threatened After Michele Bachmann Accusations

REPORT FROM THE New York Post:

Police and federal officials have placed security around ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner’s wife, Huma Abedin, after a New Jersey man threatened her, law-enforcement sources said.

An individual, described as a Muslim man, made the unspecified threat after Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) last week claimed Abedin’s family had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and asked for a probe to see if she is helping the Islamist organization.

This is what comes from reckless ideologues who have no regard for evidence, facts or basic decency.

What exactly is an “Islamist Organization?” Does a Mosque qualify?

Other than sounding very scary to the ignorant, bigoted rubes who seem to run most of this country, can someone also explain to me why I should be afraid of the Muslim Brotherhood?

  2. Uh-oh July 23, 2012 at 9:05 am #

Can someone please explain to me why Michell Bachmann has not faced any charges nor any censure? This woman is truly a danger to America. Shame on every person who voted for her!

John Boehner doesn’t have the integrity to demand she apologize, but he also doesn’t have the power inside the his caucus, which is ruled by the Tea Party that obviously doesn’t have the ethical fortitude either.

      • jjamele July 23, 2012 at 10:31 am #

If a Congressperson called for an investigation of a member or member’s spouse who had close ties with the Irish Republican Army, you can bet that Congressperson would have been censored for “anti-Catholic bigotry” in about five seconds flat. But here the target is Muslims, so it’s apparently ok.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance on this issue. Is it possible to impeach Bachmann? Because if it is, she should be impeached, or even better, just fired.

          • Lake Lady July 23, 2012 at 10:59 am #

            Censured at the very least.

          • Taylor Marsh July 23, 2012 at 2:06 pm #

No need to apologize for any question.

Voters can “impeach” by recalling a legislator, etc.

Bachmann could be censured, which would mean she’s automatically lose committee spots.

But Republicans are in a majority, so they won’t do it, especially since Boehner is afraid of the Tea Party caucus, which Bachmann founded & leads.

    You mean, like Brian Ross?

    • angels81 July 23, 2012 at 11:42 am #

Last time I looked Brian Ross wasn’t a member of congress, so trying to connect Ross with Bachmann is a stretch. One is nothing more then a two bit news caster while the other is a member of congress, and has the power to really destroy peoples lives by the accusations she makes. You seem to be comparing apples and oranges.

      • PWT July 23, 2012 at 12:00 pm #

I think that you are missing the actual comparison. Brian Ross indicated that the James Holmes involved was an older man from Aurora who had joined the TEA Party in the last year. Then, that James Holmes received threats. This story indicates that Michelle Bachman claimed that the Weinerette or her family had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and a subsequent threat was made by a muslim living in New Jersey. It doesn’t specify whether the threat was due to Mrs. Bachman’s claims or not as it doesn’t mention whether the man was sympathetic to the Brotherhood or not – it makes a difference.

My comparisson is simply to the fact that both Ross and Bachman made public statements which generated threats against those mentioned in the statements. Ross’ statement was clearly wrong, Bachman’s has not been proven wrong or not, yet. I await the proof that neither the Weinerette nor her relatives are involved with the Muslim Brotherhood and what the threat was and what generated it in regards to the muslim man from NJ. For, to this point, we don’t know whether it was Bachman’s statement or not that generated the threat from the man.

        • angels81 July 23, 2012 at 12:35 pm #

Bachmanns accusations have been proven wrong, she has not ONE shred of evidence nor has she been able to produce any. Everyone who has looked into it has said that there is nothing there, and it is pure speculation on her part. This is beyond the pale for a member of congress to trash someones reputation on nothing more then her own fear of someone who happens to be a Muslim.

          • PWT July 23, 2012 at 12:44 pm #

Could you show me where it’s been proven untrue?

          • secularhumanizinevoluter July 23, 2012 at 1:02 pm #

He just did but of course since you ARE Po Widdle Troll reality doesn’t have much value or meaning.

          • PWT July 23, 2012 at 1:56 pm #

I guess that the Thorazine has just worn off.

No, the committees involved declined to investigate. That neither proves nor disproves the claims that Bachman made. Perhaps I’m wrong, perhpas you could point to an artcle showing that there was an investigation and no evidence was found to link either the Weinerette or her family members to the Muslim Brotherhood. Absent that, an honest person would have to admit that the charges have not been proven untrue.

Sad that you can’t make a rational argument at your age, you should just stick to posting your made up words and call it a day.

          • Taylor Marsh July 23, 2012 at 2:09 pm #

            “Po Widdle Troll” .. “Thorazine”

PWT & secularh, please up your game. This type of dialogue makes you both look ridiculous.

          • secularhumanizinevoluter July 23, 2012 at 2:10 pm #

It’s simple….so simple even a Po Widdle Troll should be able to understand. You are actually suggesting that a REPUBLICAN controlled house would not investigate or name an independent prosecutor to dig deeper? If that IS your suggestion I would suggest the Thorazine is kicking in.

        • Taylor Marsh July 23, 2012 at 2:12 pm #

PWT – Angels81 is correct, these two do not make good comparisons.

          But if you insist…

ABC News apologized for the egregious amateurism, which was required.

Michele Bachmann doubled down, compounding her allegations, which amounted to calling Huma Abedin a traitor.

          • PWT July 23, 2012 at 2:27 pm #

ABC apologized because they were proven to be wrong, to have identified the wrong individual.

Michele Bachman, has not been proven to be wrong.

Futhur, aside from the article, there is no actual connection between the threats against the Weinerette and Bachman’s allegations. You can make all the inferences you’d like, but to make a logical argument, you’ve got to offer up some proof, perhaps a link demonstrating that the allegations were proven false or proving a link between the allegations and the threats.

The link between the threats to the TEA Partier and hsi being named by ABC’s Ross are obvious, yours, not so much. No they don’t make good comparissons because the link to Ross’ allegations, (proven wrong), and the threats against Holmes are obvious and irrefutable. That was the purpose, to show the greater severity of the wrong commited by Ross, but that is all lost on this crowd simply because of an undying devotion that has even a tangental relationship to Mrs. Clinton.

Maybe, the Weinerette is a traitor? I’ll await proof to the contrary.

          • jjamele July 23, 2012 at 3:20 pm #

I agree with your admonishments, Taylor. I gave up on the Media Matters for America site when pretty much every dissenting opinion was met with “get lost, Concern Troll” or “well, you’re a racist.”

It’s possible for adults who disagree to have conversations- if they act like adults.

            PWT writes:

Michele Bachman, has not been proven to be wrong.

I think you’re a secret member of the Muslim Brotherhood. Prove I’m wrong.

When you’re done trying to do that for a few hours, maybe you’ll realize the absurdity of what you just wrote. Bachmann made a charge. It’s up to her to prove it, and she has not. Since it’s a charge that many people clearly take seriously, it demanded serious proof, which Bachmann has not provided. It’s not up to anyone to prove that it isn’t true.

It’s sad and astounding how little we seem to grasp the basics of logic.

          • newdealdem1 July 23, 2012 at 3:44 pm #

            Strongly second!

          • secularhumanizinevoluter July 23, 2012 at 9:44 pm #

“Maybe, the Weinerette is a traitor? I’ll await proof to the contrary.”

Such a staggering display of logic and rational thought. McCarthy would be proud.

  4. Ramsgate July 23, 2012 at 1:09 pm #

Bachmann is a standout attention whore, who probably should be censured but she won’t be.

Also, I see lots of Republicans now jumping on the bandwagon. However, had John McCain not raised his voice, NOT ONE of them would have said a word. Huma would have been left to fend for herself.

  5. angels81 July 23, 2012 at 1:09 pm #

Very simple, read any of the many news reports on the subject. They have been all over cable news and the internet.

    Reading frees the mind.

  6. angels81 July 23, 2012 at 3:50 pm #

PWT…Weinerette? Is that supposed to show us how clever you are? You like Bachmann can’t show us one credible fact or piece of information to support any of the allegations Bachmann has thrown out there. All you seem to have is to call her a derogatory name and like Bachmann, your willing to go on witch hunt to try and dig up dirt on someone who is serving her country with honor.

    Sad.

    • PWT July 23, 2012 at 9:42 pm #

Clever, not hardly. Yet, I wasn’t the one who wrote, “Bachmanns accusations have been proven wrong”. Still waiting for you to demonstrate that. The entire peanut gallery jumped on me for asking them to prove a false positive, yet, I never made that contention, you did. So, let’s see the links.

My contention was only regardin Mr. Ross and Mr. Holmes. It is you Clinton worshiper that made it about Weinerette. That you can’t see that is truly what is sad. You can’d admit that the allegations by Ross were worse than the allegations by Bachman because the allegations by Bachman were aimed at Ms. Abedin. Ms. Abedin is a public person, Mr. Holmes is not. The allegations against Mr. Holmes were proven to be false, the allegations againts Ms. Abedin, not proven false or true, but then, not proven false.

We don’t know if she is serving her country with honor or not, we only know that the Muslim Brotherhood is in power in Egypt as I predicted it would be months ago. Heckuva job Hillary!

  7. newdealdem1 July 23, 2012 at 3:54 pm #

I hope Huma Abelin and her family are safe and remain safe. I’m glad to hear the Police and the Feds are protecting her and her family. But, it should never have come to this!

And, that’s Michele Bachmann and her ilk who go to extreme lengths to raise campaign funds from their extreme supporters.

As I said the other day, I want to see Bachmann lose her seat but first I want to see her censured by her colleagues. But, as I also said that is not gonna happen given who rules the roost over there now.. But, she needs to be made accountable in some way and that way is if her constituents throw her the hell out of office.

    • secularhumanizinevoluter July 23, 2012 at 9:52 pm #

It’s beyond ” Michele Bachmann and her ilk who go to extreme lengths to raise campaign funds from their extreme supporters.”.
It is full blown mental illness…a psychotic break with reality…a self CHOSEN psychotic break with reality at that.
Pushed and supported by the likes of PWT(see Ms. Marsh…I didn’t use his full name).
Bachmann channeling McCarthy channeling Goebels …same mind set. Lie, lie and lie again appealing to the lowest common denominator of racist, xenophobic fear and angst among the stunted mentalities of their base.
