Dana Vollmer Breaks World Record

“I had kind of a bad finish.” – Dana Vollmer

DANA VOLLMER became the first woman to break the 56 second record in the 100-meter butterfly Sunday at the London Olympics, coming in at 55.98 seconds. She takes home the gold medal, while losing her cap in the process.

In an interview Vollmer said she thought about it for a second, with the pain in her legs as she pushed to the finish having most of her attention.

UPDATE: #NBCfails is trending on Twitter. The tape delay is bad enough, but now they’re evidently spoiling on coverage. Anybody hear it? I’ve been very careful to only watch the events, afraid of something just like this happening.

Billiant! What an accomplishment! She had to battle heart problems in her young life and overcame so much to achieve this. This is what the human spirit is all about.

    What a race!

Ryan Lochte came so close to holding on… France just powered a close. Great effort from team USA.
