Bill Clinton is Going to Wisconsin

THE BIG DAWG is landing in the middle of the Walker recall, which makes the dramatic crescendo complete.

From Greg Sargent, after rumors started swirling yesterday:

Former President Bill Clinton has decided to go to Wisconsin to campaign against Scott Walker in the final days of the battle over whether to recall the Wisconsin Governor, a move that could give a boost to the anti-Walker forces in a campaign that will depend heavily on who turns out to vote, a source familiar with Clinton’s plans confirms to me.

This is developing, with the Clinton due to land sometime on Friday.

Now sit back and watch as Walker wins the recall challenge and everyone from Thom Hartmann to Ed Schultz to Stephanie Miller blames Clinton for the Democrat’s loss. “He tried to make it about him blah blah blah…” the script is pre-written.

Meanwhile, forgotten will be the fact that the White House, as usual, would not risk a penny of political capital for the people of Wisconsin.

Nice that someone in the Democratic Party remembers that voter enthusiasm means something.

I was thinking the same thing.

Is this the beginning of the Hillary Clinton campaign for President?

Arkansas is a right to work state, but he will draw some big crowds.

Democratic spokesman Graeme Zielinski says Clinton will be in Milwaukee sometime Friday morning. A rally is planned to take place at Hooter’s Restaurant in Waukesha.
Clinton would be the second big-name Democrat to appear in Wisconsin in recent days on Barrett’s behalf. The head of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, came to Racine on Wednesday to rally about 100 Democratic volunteers.

And what will jjamele say if Walker loses? Right now, without Clinton it’s a toss up. Even though the Koch suckers and the rerpugnantklan/teabaggers have dumped MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars along with pulling out all the stops in the dirty tricks department which will be interesting to see the final disposition of after the election no matter who wins.
Clinton carried this state twice. He is UBER popular.
What will jjamele say if walker loses?

      He’ll blame it on Obama.

    • jjamele May 31, 2012 at 5:55 pm #

“What will jjamele say if Walker loses?”

That the National Democratic Party would not invest one dime of it’s political capital, which has been gathering dust since November 2009, for the right of unions and the future of the people of Wisconsin. And that now they will have to go to the people of Wisconsin and make the case that the National Democratic Party deserves THEIR support.

That was easy. Any others you’d like me to swat out of the ballpark for you?

And what will jjamele say if Walker loses?

      “Yay Bill Clinton!”

      or perhaps

“Clinton stepped up and did what Obama wouldn’t because both of them knew Obama couldn’t pull it off.”

So, secular, you’re hoping Walker wins reelection? Or do you just have your first sentence mixed up?

jinbaltimore….are you smoking, drinking or both?

At least someone is helping out. President Obama seems to fly over the state instead of helping out the party that he is leader of.

  9. Sandmann May 31, 2012 at 6:16 pm #

If Wisconsinites are fu@king stupid enough to vote for Walker again, then there is nobody to blame but themselves.

  10. LiberalJoe May 31, 2012 at 7:31 pm #

Sandman, agree with you but I may have said more politely. cjoblak-you hit it on the head in my opinion.

WJC and Hillary have nothing to lose and everything to gain by this visit. WJC steps up knowing Barrett could lose and risks it for a win. Wisconsin voters/Dems , Wisconsin Dem party officials, unions everyone will remember this in 2016 if Hillary runs for POTUS. Smart political move-this is seeing the whole picture and playing the long game.

Pres Obama should take note that if he made this move he would energize the whole Dem base and progressives which would ramp up the enthusiasm in Wisconsin and nationally. Pres Obama acts like he isn’t really the head of the Dem Party, that he can’t be bothered with such a trifling thing. He is getting crappy advice from his advisors on this if they are keeping him away. But in the end he is the Pres and as Harry Truman said the buck stops with him.

If Howard Dean were still head of the DNC ,and not DWS or Tim Kaine before DWS, he would have had the whole state mobilized and bringing in reinforcements from all over the country.

    1. There are people over at Media Matters for America who will insist that Obama is NOT the head of the Democratic Party- I’ve had several angrily insist that that person is Debbie Wasserman Schultz, I kid you not.

Not only have they insisted this, they’ve mocked me for “claiming” I teach AP Government while I didn’t know this “basic fact.” The stupid. It continues to burn.

    2. MSNBC, “Progressive” talk radio, etc. if Walker loses the recall- “Obama was BRILLIANT in holding back Clinton until the last minute, this shows once again what an amazing chessmaster he is, we should stop questioning his moves he was right once again!”

And if Walker wins the recall- “The Democrats were GAINING in the final days but then Bill Clinton came in and made it ALL ABOUT HIM and ginned up the GOP base and cost us the victory! Bill Clinton ruins everything, again!”

You KNOW it’s going to happen.
