Ann Romney’s Style

IT’S FABULOUS and she can afford it.

When I saw it on CBS “This Morning,” I knew it would catch attention.

“The Reed Audubon Silk Shirt,” first identified by Styleite, is $990 and appears in the 2012 Spring/Summer collection, according to an ABC News report.

Michelle Obama made waves with her J. Crew styling, but has been criticized mercilessly whenever she wears expensive shoes or couture.

Needless to say, with my love of birds I’d buy it in a heartbeat. If I was a candidate running for the senate or president, I wouldn’t think twice and if someone had a hissy I’d call it a splurge, because most girls have done it on to die for items.

I’ve never understood the necessity for women in politics, including spouses, to dress dowdy and if they can afford it, don’t think there’s anything wrong with showing your style. I’m in the minority on that one, with any political strategist surely reining that impulse in. But don’t get me started on “strategists.”

Mrs. Romney was not given the shirt by the designer, but bought it on her own. Politico’s Click has a crisper photo. Is it worth it, they ask? Absolutely.

As for Mitt Romney, look at the way he looks at her. Good for them.

    Amazing. ;-)

In all seriousness, I don’t think I’ve ever spent $1000 for something to wear, or even come close. Once again, it’s pretty clear that there’s quite a gulf between our leaders and the rest of us.

Meh….Ann’s style is not my kind of “style.” My kind of “style” is right here:

I could only imagine the reaction, if Sarah Palin wore that shirt.

She has every right to wear the overpriced blouse; but of course, it goes to character. She is not oblivious to what’s going on in the country, or is she? Is she literally the other half of Mitt. Her getting up on one talk show and going on about how she admires women with children who have to work for a living and then showing up on another show wearing a thousand dollar blouse is like a rich white woman praising her hard working black maid. I really don’t believe people need discuss it any further; there is, without a doubt, a chill wind at the Romney’s back . There is no warmth in either one of them and anyone without money who thinks differently will feel that chill blast freezing them in place right after the inauguration.

I think that Michelle Obama – who has been mocked for having a poor taste in clothes and accused of being out of touch by spending too much on her clothes – can thank Ann Romney for her choice.

This statement of this article –

I’ve never understood the necessity for women in politics, including spouses, to dress dowdy and if they can afford it, don’t think there’s anything wrong with showing your style. I’m in the minority on that one, with any political strategist surely reining that impulse in. But don’t get me started on “strategists.”

made me think of Jackie Kennedy and Nina Khrushev.

“On Tour with Jackie Kennedy: The Communists, the Queen and The Bomb, Part II of a multi-part series”

    http://carlanthonyonline.com/2011/06/18/on-tour-with-jackie-kennedy-the-communists-the-queen-and-the-bomb-part-ii-of-a-multi-part-series/

“The press and public assumed Jackie was only about A-line dresses, not A-bombs. Nor did she offer up her opinions. In response to a request from The Women’s Strike for Peace, Jackie issued a blandly encouraging statement which paled in comparison to one given by her Soviet equal. Despite the smug assurances by the press of the vast difference between tall, youthful Jackie and short, grandmotherly Nina Khrushchev, however, the former recognized her own operating style in the latter. De Gaulle had clued Jackie in, telling her that Nina, not Nikki, was the one to watch closely, for behind her grandmotherly smile, she would eavesdrop on nearby conversations, understood English well and “reported back everything.” And she was feisty. While Jackie was watching horses, Nina pushed an Austrian cop out of the way who was preventing an elderly woman from handing her a letter pleading that her daughter in Romania be allowed to join her. Aware that the press was watching her every move and would follow up on the story, Nina took the letter – and saw to it that mother and daughter were immediately reunited.”

Beautiful shirt and she certainly has every right to wear it. BUT she and the Mittens camp also have NO right to complain about it being mentioned that this ONE SHIRT cost more then the average take home pay of Americans.

That’s what I was thinking. That one shirt is a mortgage payment or even more for a lot of people in this country.
