Super Tuesday Gets Ugly

**updated**

Why is this guy smiling? It’s not because it’s been a good night for Mitt Romney.

But a few minutes ago, CNN reported Mitt Romney just pulled ahead of the guy who didn’t even file the right papers to compete in Ohio.

Impressive.

Romney Loses Georgia, the only state Gingrich won, and wins Massachusetts, Vermont and Virginia, as well as Idaho.

Santorum wins Tennessee, Oklahoma, North Dakota and one can only imagine what might have been in Virginia, but especially in Ohio, if his team had their act together.

But right now it’s all about Ohio, which is down to the wire.

This thing is never going to end. Good for Democrats and Pres. Obama, devastating for whomever finally nabs the nomination, aka Mitt Romney, who remains the one Republican primary voters still don’t want.

I can’t help but think that what the GOP calls candidates is nothing more than a bunch of clowns.  Not one has a new idea, not one really appeals to the people and I doubt that any could beat Obama at this stage of the game.  The only way I see a Republican winning the election in November is by using hanky panky.

I still can’t get over the Blunt amendment fiasco.  On an issue that is so important and so toxic,  he flip flops.  What kind of advisors does he have;  what about his wife.  If for no other reason she should have told him that his credibility was at stake,  that no one would take him seriously.  I have no evidence but it wouldn’t surprise me if this is the first time people voted for a president  whose ideas they really no nothing about.  Then there’s the war mongering;  after ten years of endless fighting he’s running his big stupid mouth about starting another war.  As TM said,  your not going to see any of his precious children fighting it.

I haven’t been paying all that much attention. Are these states also awarding delegates on the basis of how much of the vote each candidate receives? If so, then it probably won’t matter whether Romney wins Ohio by a hair, or Santorum does. They’ll get roughly the same number of delegates.

EDIT: Just checked Huffpo’s page on the primaries. They are projecting that the lion’s share of tonight’s delegates to from all the primaries will go to Romney: 179 to 130 to all the others. Overall, he’s ahead now 359 to 282. If Romney can continue to win the majority of delegates, he should be able to win the nomination without having to cut a deal with one of his competitors.

Further EDIT: According to HuffPo, he needs a little more than 1,100 delegates to win the nomination. It’s not over by a longshot, but Romney is in the driver’s seat, I think.
