Assuming Romney is the Nominee…

WICHITA, Kan. — Demonstrating again his strength among conservative voters in the heartland, Rick Santorum decisively won the Kansas caucuses on Saturday. Mr. Santorum captured 51 percent of the vote, easily eclipsing his rivals Mitt Romney, who had 21 percent; Newt Gingrich with 14 percent; and Ron Paul with 13 percent. – Santorum Wins in Kansas Caucuses

While Republicans have been engaged in the political Olympics of tomfoolery, Pres. Obama and his reelect team know one thing very well.

Now isn’t November.

All the analysis we’re pouring over in the primary race is wasted when looking forward, so all we can do is offer a snapshot in time of today. Nobody can predict what fresh hell awaits on the economic and foreign policy fronts.

You might as well wonder what might have been if Rick Santorum’s nice guy routine had been launched earlier, before he became known as the wacky wingnut who wants to ban contraception.

No wonder he’s overwhelmingly popular in Kansas.

But assuming Romney finally clinches the nomination he gets a restart, though his gaffes live on videotape, which could go a long way to doing him in. Still, around 47% of voters automatically will give him their vote, because of the hatred Republicans & right-wingers have of Barack Obama.

Add a world event & you’ve got the possibility of Romney winning. That’s why Dems & Obama reelect won’t ever let up. They know the numbers.

Gas prices could torpedo the U.S. recovery, as could Israel deciding to strike Iran.

That’s why, in our polarized nation, Pres. Obama’s contraceptive mandate, and the Republican reaction to it, is so important. Tipping young women to pay attention is a dangerous voting bloc to stir to action. Obama’s approval with women is up 10% already.

Romney’s other problem remains Hispanics. Rick Santorum can’t help him with that.

On Tuesday, the south weighs in. That’s a battle between Santorum and Gingrich, with Romney hoping he can just hang on and make a decent showing.

But when you look at the delegate math, making the sale for the nomination has escaped every one of these men.

Vice President Rick Santorum….does sound likely for 2012. I can already guess, Romney does not want to make this man his VP pick. But with untrust of Romney running ramp through the base voters…it could very well be ole Ricky boy, as VP. Nothing no longer surprises me this political year. And Taylor, your correct Romney will not matter what picks up the segment of Anti-Obama’s, once he’s officially the nominee. It’s those in the middle who will decided this election outcome. I will be sitting out this election year, since there is no candidate I truly like.

However, I am interested in who the middle voters will ultimate side with in 2012.

On behalf of the right wing and the 1% of this country we would like to thank you for sitting out this upcoming election. We hope you tell all your friends to do the same. Nothing would make us happier to see all progressives and liberals sit this one out, and let us make the America we know you all really want.

    Snark off.

What I’ve learned from the last few years is that if you want a right wing agenda implemented, the surest path is to elect Democrats to do it for you. It matters not a whit to me if Mitt Romney or Barack Obama ends up in the White House next January. The only difference is that if it’s Romney, all the faux-progressive whores of the status quo will remember that spying on and assassinating Americans is a bad thing to do, and that Social Security and Medicare are important to protect. If Obama is elected, then we’ll find out the full extent of their powers of rationalization. While that might be an interesting experiment, I’ve seen enough already.

We can predict it. What we can’t predict is quite when it will happen. My cynical nature caused me to overestimate how long the Bush Administration could keep the economy propped up back in 2007. I’ll refrain from doing that again. It could happen any time this year, or next year. None of the things that caused the last collapse have been fixed. It’s only a matter of time.
