An analyst on MSNBC just said that bin Laden gives a reference
to the story in the Daily
Mirror about Bush allegedly wanting to bomb al-Jazeera, which gives us a
broad timeline as to when bin Laden made the tape. It does not reference the
recent CIA bombing on the militants. In addition, the tape is of very poor quality,
intimating that bin Laden is now reduced to the technology of garage bands. …
… okay, they didn't say that last thing about garage bands, but I thought
it was illustrative.
Al-Jazeera on Thursday aired an audiotape
from Osama bin Laden, who says al-Qaida is making preparations for attacks in
the United States but offers a truce on “fair” but undefined conditions.
The CIA has authenticated the voice on the tape as that of bin Laden, an agency
official said.

Cheney gave a speech today on the war on terror without mentioning
the tape. What he did tell us about was the greatness of our country. Do we
really need W.'s point man chickenhawk extolling the greatness of America to
we the people? Because we not only know how great this country is, but we actually
want to protect our democracy from those who want to change it into some unrecognizable
form of American fascism.
Meanwhile, Terror Guy walked on stage today to talk about economics
while cable channels blasted the bin Laden tape across the country. He didn't
even know what was going on.
It's yet another “Pet Goat” moment for Terror Guy, as
he talks about the thing most dear to his heart, money-money-money, as our arch
enemy's latest greatest hit is being broadcast to Americans. That means Hazel
in North Hampton was more informed than our own president. Lovely.
