Tim Kaine? Democrats duck national security AGAIN.

Iraq is still a powder keg.

Our troops still don't have armor.

Oh, and bin Laden just released a new video, reminding us that
we still have not captured the mastermind behind 9/11.

But yet Democrats, in their inimitable wisdom, have chosen Tim
Kaine to give the Democratic Party response to Bush's SOTU speech.

It seems clear that with all the bad news on the national security front, Bush won't do what I had predicted, which is declare \”victory\” in Iraq, then move on. Reality is so bad and so broadly known that not even he would dare claim \”victory\” now. So, Bush will likely be forced to battle on our turf, domestic issues, leaving national security hanging out there as a subject untouchable by anyone but a Republican. At least that's the message the Democratic Party seems willing to send, or at least a battleground the party isn't willing to fight upon.

When is the Democratic Party going to quit backing away from national
security issues?

And even if the Democratic Party intelligentsia doesn't have the spine to take
advantage of George W. Bush's colossal national security failures, are they
really telling us that the most charismatic leader to get our other messages across is Tim Kaine?

Unlike Ms. Huffington, I did not watch Kaine's address on C-SPAN,
but the reviews have been horrible, frightening, enough to cause a political panic!

So, what we're basically going to do is
offer up a prime speaking engagement to a guy who can't speak, has no telegenic
presence, just because he won a red state? We're going to televise to the entire country, who is
looking for an alternative in the middle of the Republican implosion, and remind them yet again why they don't vote for a Democrat.

Once again, it seems the Democratic Party's collective spinelessness
on national security is going to remain on view by the sheer reality that we
won't present a leader from our party who can speak out strongly on matters
deeply important to this country, like Iraq, terrorism and border security.

Seriously, if we're going to go in the tank on terrorism and all the other issues surrounding national security, even
as Terror Guy's cred on the subject is sinking, at least get someone
with pizzazz and sex appeal like Barack Obama.

He's no threat to Hillary or any other Democratic Party leader
who has designs on 2008.

But come on, people, not Tim Kaine!
