Lieberman Says Filibuster Alito
… brought up the Alito nomination, and we all were
pleasantly surprised with Senator Lieberman said that a filibuster
was on the table for him – hopefully he'll stick to his guns! And
again, when Nathan Karnes discussed the Patriot Act, Senator Lieberman indicated
that he strongly disapproved of the President's erosion of civil liberties
and indicated he has a strong interest in making sure the Patriot Act doesn't
go too far in the future… (via

Democrats need to go to the wall to keep Judge Alito from being
confirmed. His philosophy regarding the “unitary executive” is reason
enough to object to this man serving on the highest court, which I've argued
over and
over again.
Nothing goes to the heart of our democracy more than a president who believes
he can proffer a “signing
statement” to adjust legislative actions to which he disagrees or if
he simply so chooses. This notion and judicial theory of the presidency puts
the president above the law, which he isn't in our democratic republic. The
fact that Judge Alito believes the specifics of Article II of the Constitution
depends on the president's situation at the time simply does not satisfy the
co-equal branch theory and the reality that our Founders never intended the
presidency of George W. Bush to resemble that from which we fled, the reign
of King George.
Filibuster, baby, all the way to the wall.
