Bush Illegal Spying Gets a Hearing
The Senate Committee on the Judiciary will
hold a hearing on "Wartime Executive Power and the NSA’s Surveillance
Authority" at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, February 6, 2006 at 9:30 a.m. in a Senate
Office Building Room to be announced. Committee
on the Judiciary
Guess who's coming to the hearing? The only witness will be Bush's
Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales.
Why does a shiver of trepidation run down my spine? No, it's not
because I think Mr. Gonzales will be reduced to tears at the pummeling he will
take under questioning. It's the exact opposite. After watching the Democratic
senators on the Judiciary Committee question Alito, I am left to wonder if any
reasonable formula will be used on which to build our case.
Here are Senator Specter's
questions, already forwarded to the A.G.
Glenn Greenwald, also wondering if our Democratic senators know
how to build the case, has put together a list of questions, which can be found
here
and here.
Here's another post
I found illuminating.
If you have any thoughts on the upcoming hearings or questions that should be asked, I'd
like to hear them.
