On Monday, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and other leading lights of the Trumpist right gathered in Israel to celebrate the relocation of the American Embassy to Jerusalem, a gesture widely seen as a slap in the face to Palestinians who envision East Jerusalem as their future capital. IT IS difficult to absorb the recurring drama of the unavoidable.

President Trump’s actions inciting mayhem, void of any solutions. Governance by proclamation.

“What we’re seeing is that Israel has used, yet again, excessive and lethal force against protesters who do not pose an imminent threat,” Magdalena Mughrabi, Amnesty International’s deputy director for the Middle East and North Africa, told me by phone from Jerusalem.

Every president before Trump tread lightly, and let Israel carry the big stick.

The current Administration is deaf. Sees one side. A strategy that will doom our friends on the other.

The split screens of a grinning Ivanka Trump photo on one side, protesters and confrontation shown on the other photo signify an oblivious White House.

The Palestinians equate to Middle Eastern Mexicans to Trump.

So many years watching this insanity between Israel and the Palestinians, studying it, listening to experts in Washington, D.C., think tanks. I never considered an American president might blithely light a match to see what would remain after the embers died.

For a weak president facing a sprawling federal investigation, and a bitch of a midterm, foreign policy can be political gold to mine.
