“The special counsel is not an unguided missile,” Rosenstein said in an exclusive interview with USA TODAY. “I don’t believe there is any justification at this point for terminating the special counsel.”
HOUSE REPUBLICANS on the Intelligence Committee quit the Russian investigation. No one is surprised. The lid won’t stay on for long.
So, it isn’t a coincidence the USA Today interview with Robert Mueller‘s boss, Rod Rosenstein, hits every hotel in America this morning.
I don’t know if you’ve been following Erik Prince‘s efforts to establish a back channel to Russia through the Seychelles but it’s one time it’s worth reading the Daily Mail.
As for the book featured, it’s a doozy. The Steele dossier explained in detail, among other things, as Rachel Maddow teased on her show.
Trump got Rep. Nunes to scuttle the House Russia investigation but he can’t stop what’s happening.
The old man in the White House decided to pick a fight with the First Amendment, for starters. He has put journalists in danger in our country but Trump’s remarks make it harder for journalists in more oppressive areas of the world.
The American president has also managed to stay silent on Russia’s apparent terrorist attack on citizens of Great Britain. The White House line so far has been tepid. This is as serious as it gets.
The PM said it was “highly likely” Russia was responsible for the Salisbury attack. The Foreign Office summoned Russia’s ambassador to provide an explanation. Mrs May said if there is no “credible response” by the end of Tuesday, the UK would conclude there has been an “unlawful use of force” by Moscow. The chemical used in the attack, the PM said, has been identified as one of a group of nerve agents known as Novichok. [BBC]
May says she will give Russia until end of tomorrow to respond to nerve agent attack against ex-Russian spy. "Should there be no credible response, we will conclude that this action amounts to an unlawful use of force by the Russia state against the United Kingdom." pic.twitter.com/9qzhJZYL1Q

Vladimir Putin is winning right now…
Americans were involved in aiding Russia.
Like 9/11, there also appears to have been plenty of information, warning signs.
As Trump continues to push for the Mueller probe to end, Isikoff and Corn’s new book sounds a national security alarm.

UPDATE: Trump has wanted to fire Rex Tillerson for a long time. Tillerson’s statement on the British terrorist attack by Russia seems to have been the final straw. From ExxonMobil to being fired on Twitter. Tillerson was on a plane when it happened, according to news reports. CIA Director Mike Pompeo is next secretary of state. The confirmation of Gina Haspel should be epic.
W.H. claims Trump asked Tillerson to step aside on Friday. Rex was in the middle of a week-long Africa trip.
State Dept claims the two men never spoke. No mention of Friday call.
Which side is telling the truth?

Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!
