Trump’s Twitter Tantrum Distraction

TRUMP savors misdirection, confusion and chaos.

The First Amendment threat is no joke.

Trump Tweets are bait to keep us occupied away from what Trump does… or doesn’t do.

Puerto Rico remains a humanitarian emergency.

Trump reportedly will not certify Iran’s compliance to Congress, which the president must do every 90 days, which means he will open another front on which to fight. This time in the most dangerous area of the world.

The most troubling of all is the reemergence of Trump’s nuclear weapons fetish. It was on display throughout the 2016 campaign. The recent reports from NBC are harrowing.

President Donald Trump said he wanted what amounted to a nearly tenfold increase in the U.S. nuclear arsenal during a gathering this past summer of the nation’s highest-ranking national security leaders, according to three officials who were in the room. […]

… The July 20 meeting was described as a lengthy and sometimes tense review of worldwide U.S. forces and operations. It was soon after the meeting broke up that officials who remained behind heard Tillerson say that Trump is a “moron.”

Secretary Rex Tillerson is an interesting character in this soap opera. Modern thinker with staunchly conservative personal values. That’s what I saw in someone who worked as one of Tillerson’s vice presidents. There was no doubt in my mind he called Trump a “moron.” He’s not in the same class as Rex. Tillerson is the type of man who looked down on Trump before he became president.

I bet Trump knows this and that’s why he chose him and makes him squirm whenever it suits him.

Winning the presidency wasn’t enough. Nothing is.

That’s why the loose nuke tweets should worry everyone.

It’s the ultimate distraction.
