THIS TIME the threat is lethal.
There’s a secret.
A woman is heard whimpering in a parking garage.
A dark side to the powerfully rich is exposed.
And Alex Gantry is at the center of it all.
The first chapter is titled “Trouble.”
Alex Gantry was in the office all day. It was still a foreign experience for her after working on her own for so long, but she liked it. Her partnership with her best friend Berkley Banks was working well, and, for the first time in forever, they both had great men in their lives.
There was one thing, however, that Alex couldn’t shake.
Recently, she had gone home to find that her front door had been locked from the inside, indicating that an intruder had invaded her Beltway abode.
It was a terrifying experience that had mentally jettisoned Alex back to her work in Hollywood and the day she had learned that life coaching could be dangerous. A break-in at Alex’s Los Angeles home had occurred when a client’s ex-boyfriend had taken a restraining order very personally and had decided to punish Alex for being an advisor to his woman. Alex had often had security posted at her clients’ homes, but retaliation at her own front door had never occurred before this incident.
Her ex-boyfriend, Brian Marks, had shown up in the Beltway after the second break-in. He arranged to have a security system installed in her new home. The familiarity of Brian’s presence seduced her into feeling safe, because it was exactly what he’d done the first time, when Alex’s home in Los Angeles had been invaded.
Soon after the second break-in at Alex’s Beltway home, she was shaken to her core once more when an automobile accident nearly killed Berkley. Although her friend had recovered physically, Berkley still flinched whenever a truck passed her on the freeway. And this incident had not been an accident at all – T.J.’s enemy, Davin Dalaney, had wanted to kill Alex, and send T.J. a message, but had mistakenly targeted Berkley as she drove Alex’s car. Berkley had wanted to take Alex’s new BMW X6 for a test drive. The last thing she expected was to be run off the road.
While Alex’s new boyfriend, T.J. Gale, had ultimately identified the culprit behind Berkley’s car accident, few knew who had recently broken into Alex’s Washington, D.C. Beltway home. It was a well-kept secret that lingered like a thinly veiled threat. … …
