Rep. Mike Rogers retiring from Congress to do radio.

THIS IS a fairly surprising move by former FBI man and anti-Snowden crusader Rep. Mike Rogers, who has decided to retire from Congress and head to radio.

Rogers said he’ll start in January as a nationally syndicated radio show host at Cumulus Radio. “We are thrilled to have Chairman Rogers join our team. He has been instrumental helping to shape many of the most important issues and events of our time and will play a significant role in our expanding content platform,” said Lew Dickey, CEO of Cumulus. Mike Rogers is out of the old Republican national security mold, but he is not as unhinged as Rush and Sean and all the wingnut radio hosts who have been so popular over the last 20 years of Republican dominance on the airwaves.

Being handed a syndicated radio show is one thing. We’ll see if Rogers has to change to stay on the air, because the fever swamp that make up the listeners of talk radio like their hosts breathing fire at all times.
