“We were surprised that there was an attack launched against Liz on Facebook, and wished it hadn’t happened,” Cheney said at the National Press Club. “It’s always been dealt with within the context of the family and frankly that’s our preference.” [ABC News]
THE FIRST Dick and Liz had a lot more class than Dick and Liz Cheney of Wyoming 2013. The political duo is fighting for the family honor in Wyoming and losing, so far. So, forder Vice President Dick Cheney has now become the central figure in his daughter Liz Cheney’s flailing Senate bid.
Daddy’s reaching all the way back to his Ford days for help. Big petroleum to the rescue!
Mr. Cheney will be the keynote speaker at a $10,000-per-couple dinner here on Thursday at Cafe Milano to benefit the newly formed Cowboy PAC, a group that aims “to begin a statewide advertising campaign in the very near future.”
… The host of Thursday’s event is Red Cavaney, a longtime Washington lobbyist and friend of Mr. Cheney from their days working together in the White House under President Gerald R. Ford. Until Mr. Cavaney retired in 2008, he was the head of American Petroleum Institute, the primary trade group for the oil and gas industry.
Mr. Cheney has become a central figure in his eldest daughter’s campaign. When Ms. Cheney began her bid over the summer, she told associates that she wanted to win in her own right.
The goal of the event this Thursday is for the Super PAC “is to get Liz Cheney to parity in name awareness and sentiment as soon as possible,” according to a statement given to the New York Times.
It’s laughably embarrassing for Dick & Liz Cheney, because the problem obviously isn’t “name awareness,” unless you consider the carpetbagger status of Liz. The problem Liz Cheney has is that her demeanor and behavior represents the worst of what politicians stand for in the minds of most voters today.
Tea Party types embracing another corporate suck up like Liz Cheney would, however, no be surprising.
The quote at the top of this post reveals just how bad it’s gotten for Dick and Liz Cheney. Daddy is now referring to his other daughter Mary, who made the comment on Facebook to which Dick Cheney refers, by not even using her name.
Senator Mike Enzi is a very conservative Republican, so right now in Wyoming it’s a race to see who better represents austerity.
