OVER the weekend the White House Correspondents’ Association had their annual “nerd prom.” It’s a cozy, elite, insider party held in Washington, D.C. where journalists hobnob with the politicians they cover, celebrities thrown in to make it even more interesting.

Still I find the whole business more than a little bit icky. A journalist really should stay away from such shenanigans. Too much or an air of false comradery and mandatory fun for my taste, not to mention the miasma of sycophancy that surrounds the proceedings; at least from the press corps. – JA
