Powerhouse Ashley Judd Sets Sights on the Insider’s Insider, Mitch McConnell

She hasn’t announced yet, but her biggest supporter in Kentucky, Democratic Rep. John Yarmuth, told ABC News, “I would be surprised if she doesn’t run at this point.” “My impression is this is something she wants to do, and she is now taking the time to make the contacts she needs to make throughout the state to try and generate commitments of support and in some cases fundraising,” Yarmuth said. “She is certainly acting like a candidate, a potential candidate. THIS WILL be so much fun to watch if Ms. Judd makes the plunge.

The amount of money that will roll in is one reason she might be able to make it a race.

This would be the SWEETEST thing EVA!!! Even better then President Obama’s re-election and maybe only surpassed by a Hillary Clinton run in 16.

So McConnell’s “I dare you to support her” feint works perfectly. Not at all surprising, considering the ridiculous suckers Democrats are these days.

Having a wounded, vulnerable, out of step Republican Senator ripe for the taking, we’ll eagerly, gleefully put into the field the Unelectable in Kentucky Ms Judd, a woman who somehow manages to keep two diametrically opposed thoughts in her head at the same time: “I am a radical” and “I’d follow Obama anywhere.”

And any Democrat who thinks it might be better to nominate someone who can actually WIN in a state which elected Rand Paul in 2010 and voted overwhelmingly for Mitt Romney in 2012 had better just shut up or be accused of sexism. Sigh. Here we go again.

Time will tell….gee, some folks said President Obama was unre-electable……

Yup. Nothing is impossible, nothing. Ashley Judd imo has all the right stuff to pull an upset. I’ve admired her for years both as an actor and as a political activist. She’s as intelligent and savvy and articulate as she is stunning. She’s also a realist and knows it’s not going to be a walk in the park. But, she’s had lots of years dealing with the cut throat world of Hollywood and has thrived with class and a toughness and savvy that will serve her well (if she decides to run) in the cutthroat, vicious political machine behind McConnell. I’ve seen Judd in action as a proponent, she knows her stuff and she’s one tough woman who doesn’t suffer fools gladly and does so with great skill and grace. So, GO Ashley Judd!

A bit off topic but I thought this would be the best place to post this reminder in case people are not aware of a broadcast tonight on PBS from 8 to 11.

        MAKERS: Women Who Make America:

Here is a synopsis of this important documentary:

“Women Who Make America tells the remarkable story of the most sweeping social revolution in American history, as women have asserted their rights to a full and fair share of political power, economic opportunity, and personal autonomy. It’s a revolution that has unfolded in public and private, in courts and Congress, in the boardroom and the bedroom, changing not only what the world expects from women, but what women expect from themselves. MAKERS brings this story to life with priceless archival treasures and poignant, often funny interviews with those who led the fight, those who opposed it, and those first generations to benefit from its success. Trailblazing women like Hillary Rodham Clinton, Ellen DeGeneres and Oprah Winfrey share their memories, as do countless women who challenged the status quo in industries from coal-mining to medicine. Makers captures with music, humor, and the voices of the women who lived through these turbulent times the dizzying joy, aching frustration and ultimate triumph of a movement that turned America upside-down.”

I’ve been looking forward to this for a while.

Almost enough to make me wish we had cable…almost.

My skepticism has much less to do with Ms Judd’s qualifications than with the ability of the people of Kentucky to recognize them.

          Recent Kentucky Elections:

          2008- Overwhelmingly McCain, re-elected McConnell.
2010- Solid win for Rand Paul
2012- Solid win for Mitt Romney
2014- Elects Ashley Judd to the Senate? Seriously?

This is a pipe dream, people. Very little to do with Judd- I don’t think any Dem could win statewide in KY right now, but it certainly won’t be a vocal Obama supporter. A Joe Manchin “Democrat” MAYBE. But not Ashley Judd.

sec, the documentary is not on cable. do you have a local public broadcasting station in your area? It’s on that station and channel. Unless your public station is on cable which I’ve never seen before, it’s usually part of regular broadcast TV like CBS, NBC etc.
