A former Navy reservist who was fired from the Los Angeles Police Department in 2008 has gone on a murderous rampage aimed at police officers and their families, law enforcement officials said Thursday, killing at least three people – including an 11-year veteran of the Riverside Police Department – and setting off a huge manhunt across Southern California. – Manhunt On for Ex-Officer Accused of Police Vendetta

A FORMER police officer has begun a killing spree that now includes two innocent bystanders, women, being shot by police after their Honda pickup was misidentified as the Nissan police were hunting for that allegedly belongs to the suspect, Christopher J. Dorner. He continues to elude capture as of this posting.

And, of course, where there’s gun violence there is the right going after Piers Morgan, who pleaded with his audience not to politicize the Dorner police vendetta.

The right is going berserk after a manifesto story Fox News Channel’s Los Angeles affiliate KTLA posted “contained quotes on President Obama, MSNBC, Chris Christie, Jon Huntsman, Hillary Clinton, George H.W Bush, and support for gun control,” according to Buzzfeed. Part of what’s posted at Buzzfeed is below, which cites Biden, Hillary Clinton and Chris Christie:

Mr. Vice President, do your due diligence when formulating a concise and permanent national AWB plan. Future generations of Americans depend on your plan and advisement to the president. I’ve always been a fan of yours and consider you one of the few genuine and charismatic politicians. Damn, sounds like an oxymoron calling you an honest politician. It’s the truth.

Hillary Clinton. You’ll make one hell of a president in 2016. Much like your husband, Bill, you will be one of the greatest. Look at Castro in San Antonio as a running mate or possible secretary of state. He’s (good people) and I have faith and confidence in him. Look after Bill. He was always my favorite President. Chelsea grew up to be one hell of an attractive woman. No disrespect to her husband.

Gov. Chris Christie. What can I say? You’re the only person I would like to see in the White House in 2016 other than Hillary. You’re America’s no shit taking uncle. Do one thing for your wife, kids, and supporters. Start walking at night and eat a little less, not a lot less, just a little. We want to see you around for a long time. Your leadership is greatly needed.
Wayne LaPierre, President of the NRA, you’re a vile and inhumane piece of shit. You never even showed 30 seconds of empathy for the children, teachers, and families of Sandy Hook. You deflected any type of blame/responsibility and directed it toward the influence of movies and the media. You are a failure of a human being. May all of your immediate and distant family die horrific deaths in front of you.

When you read the litany of racist activity he endured and the pathetic “blue line” covering for the racist cops is it any wonder eventually he snapped? Does that excuse his murderous acts? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!! But the cops and in particular the higher ups are responsible for this tragic situation blowing up.

Let the right have their fix. Just remember for every one of these there’s 30 right-wing screeds floating out there. This will be forgotten in 5 minutes by anyone who watches the news and sees the next crazy on the right, who is no doubt writing his own manifesto and preparing his bunker as we speak.

What caught my attention in that LA Times article was this:

Mr. Dorner was dismissed after being charged with making false statements about his training officer, who he alleged had kicked a suspect. A review board ultimately found Mr. Dorner guilty. Mr. Dorner sued the department, but both the trial court and an appellate court upheld his termination.

    end quote

Which sounds to me like he was punished for being a whistleblower, which is a status that makes it awfully hard to find a job. It also should be troubling that this looks like yet another example of cops covering for each other, a habit that makes it difficult to hold them accountable, and ensure that we citizens are safe from them.

I bet neither of those points will be discussed very much in the news, right wing or otherwise.
