Study Confirms Tea Party Was Created by Big Tobacco and Billionaires (via Desmogblog)

A new academic study confirms that front groups with longstanding ties to the tobacco industry and the billionaire Koch brothers planned the formation of the Tea Party movement more than a decade before it exploded onto the U.S. political scene. “Finally, this report might serve as a wake-up call to some people in the Tea Party itself, who would find it a little disturbing that the “grassroots” movement they are so emotionally attached to, is in fact a pawn created by billionaires and large corporations with little interest in fighting for the rights of the common person, but instead using the common person to fight for their own unfettered profits.” Taylor Marsh

I would have to say the same thing about the GOP who claims to fight for the common person but actually is using billionaires and the large corporations to line their own pockets and to thwart the democratic process.

They certainly did a better job than the jokers who started the #Occupy movement. What a flash in the pan that was.

Ask Bank of America about what a flash in the pan they were…BofAs stock and deposits dropped through the floor because of Occupy and Occupy is still going strong.
It is cute to see one of the posters who always spewed the bullshit that the teabaggers were “grassroots” and “nonpartisan” now poo-pooing the reality but then that’s seems what they as well as the rest of the wingnutesphere do best…..poo-poo reality in favor of their scripted delusions belched up by faux not news and the likes of limpwithnoballs.

I always doubted the sincerity of the TEA Party movement. Grass roots movements usually do not come with purpose-built designer buses. I also pays to follow the billy clubs. If an organization is getting beaten and tear gassed, it is most likely authentic. True grass roots movements always get major push-back from the elites. And quite often that push-back comes in the form of Police repression and Police violence.

Occupy got a major Police Beat-down that was coordinated by the government and the banksters. I wonder if Occupy learned from that and will come back stronger or if repression worked. The conditions that caused Occupy in the first place are still extant, so it is only a matter of time before public protest flairs again. Will Occupy or its sucessor have a game plan for the repression that it will have to face? Peace, Love, and Granola is fine ideology, but you got to deal with Agent Provocateurs, Tear Gas, Fifth Columnists, slander, libel, and the inevitable black-clad goons called Riot Police.
