12.12.12 Concert for Sandy

WHAT A night it’s been so far. Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Rolling Stones… Alicia Keys…

I lived in New York when I was doing Broadway. Vacationed on the Jersey shore many years. It’s a great place, with great people. Help them come back.

I love that so many are involved with this, in so many ways. That’s wonderful. I really don’t mean to take anything away from the donation of time, talent and money. I wonder, however, that over and over again, from small town to NYC and beyond, we rely on fundraisers to take care of one another.

Nothing wrong with joining in to take care of each other.

The federal government is also moving money, but this is a HUGE disaster. There is no government that can do all things in times of need.

    It’s all hands on deck.

Giving through a fundraiser also unites the American community. It’s important.

If you want to talk about ignoring climate change, that’s the REAL issue here.

I think that even if the government were doing everything it is capable of, there would still be plenty for others to do. Big disasters are like that. Some places will have to be rebuilt almost from scratch. That’s a huge task, and it’s not going to happen for a while.

That being said, I wish the government was doing everything it’s capable of.

        Agreed there.

What a concert it was, too! Spectacular.
