THIS HAS been a bone of contention (sorry ’bout that) since I was writing about and snooping around in the sex industry back in the mid-90s.

From LA Times:

A measure that would require porn performers to wear condoms while filming in Los Angeles County was approved by voters.

The measure garnered 55.9% of the vote after a hard-fought campaign,

“This is a major referendum on the subject of safer sex,” said AIDS Healthcare Foundation President Michael Weinstein.

The excuse has been that people won’t watch porn films if they see condoms. Tough.

Vivid isn’t having any problem selling their products and condoms won’t change that fact. The competition from smut producers beyond the U.S. goes well beyond condoms, and the assault on the California industry will continue, but this is a law that’s long overdue.
