News Desk — Reuters: Official Emails on Benghazi During Attack Went to White House Situation Room

THE NEWS reported by Reuters late Tuesday is the first revealing that official emails were sent during the Benghazi terrorist attack, warning the Obama administration that all hell was breaking loose in Libya.

The emails, obtained by Reuters from government sources not connected with U.S. spy agencies or the State Department and who requested anonymity, specifically mention that the Libyan group called Ansar al-Sharia had asserted responsibility for the attacks.

The brief emails also show how U.S. diplomats described the attack, even as it was still under way, to Washington. …

[...] While some information identifying recipients of this message was redacted from copies of the messages obtained by Reuters, a government source said that one of the addresses to which the message was sent was the White House Situation Room, the president’s secure command post.

Other addressees included intelligence and military units as well as one used by the FBI command center, the source said.

The details in the Reuters report are harrowing. They include that the Benghazi embassy was “under attack. Embassy in Tripoli reports approximately 20 armed people fired shots; explosions have been heard as well.”

    Conversation in the White House:

“Hey, Hillary- you are on your way out the door anyway, how about stepping up and falling on your sword over this?”

“Sigh– ok, one more sacrifice, and that’s it, Mr. President. What a tough four years this has been- in retrospect, I might have been better off staying in the Senate.”

“I’m sorry, what did you say? I stopped listening after you said ‘ok.’ Why are you still here?”

Obama lied. Do you all still want a flat out liar in the Whitehouse? One who would not only lie, but, put someone who was just exercising their right to free speech in danger????
    How could you?

With due respect, you actually believe Romney isn’t a liar???????

      • cjoblak@hotmail.com October 24, 2012 at 6:01 pm #

Tough question to answer, Taylor, because everyone lies to some extent. I believe Romney is good man, a better man than Obama.

and I totally believe he would be a much better President.

They are both politicians who have been successful at their life’s work. Ipso facto, they are both liars.

You’d have to be a hopeless partisan to be positive at this stage that Obama lied, and you’d have to be a hopeless partisan to be positive at this stage that he didn’t. I don’t know what the truth is, but I want to. Now, who is going to conduct an investigation that is neither a cover up nor a witch hunt? Certainly not the Democrats or Republicans. Which means, probably, that we won’t know the truth until someone writes a book about the episode twenty years from now, when 99 percent of us have long forgotten it.

“Obama lied” could you please supply a link that shows President Obama lied? The CIA has certainly released documents showing that THEY told the White House that it was violence involving reaction to the movie…you have other information to share with us? Nothing in this post, nothing after reading the ENTIRE post says anything that implies President Obama lied. Your source please? Crickets…crickets…crickets. Thought so.

So you’re telling me that you believe Obama had no knowledge of something this big??? I heard his speech to the U.N., Sec, saying it was because of the you tube video, I heard Stupid Rice on National Television saying the same thing. Now, come to find out, the White House did know as it was happening.

        • secularhumanizinevoluter October 24, 2012 at 7:47 pm #

Did you hear/read the CIA briefing sent to the White House? No…of course not. What a clown.

          • cjoblak@hotmail.com October 25, 2012 at 9:35 am #

You’re an idiot, sec. The whitehouse knew right away, and over a week or so later, Obama and his lackeys are still claiming it was because of the you tube video. You’re hopeless. No wonder the country is in the poor state that it’s in, with people like you defending a liar, just because he has a D after his name.

          • cjoblak@hotmail.com October 25, 2012 at 9:37 am #

And also, if Obama didn’t know what was going on, as you claim, then he has absolutely NO BUSINESS being the President of the UNited States!

I think it is time for a question…..”What did the President know and when did he know it?”

    • PWT October 24, 2012 at 2:02 pm #

You would likely be disappointed with the answers, the “only wake him up for the really important meetings”.

    • secularhumanizinevoluter October 24, 2012 at 5:00 pm #

A more relevant question would be what are the wingnuts smoking and where do they get such strong chit?!!

  4. DaGoat October 24, 2012 at 6:36 pm #

In fairness to Obama it would take a lot to get me to cancel a trip to Vegas, too.

Well, I see conservatives are digesting the Fox Benghazi channel stories hook, line and sinker. That the Monica Crowley crew is invoking Nixon is HILARIOUS. Might as well just serve up Rush Limbaugh transcripts.
