Harry Reid: Bain Investor Said Mitt Romney ‘Didn’t Pay Taxes for 10 Years’

THE HUFFINGTON POST did an interview with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. In it he just happens to mention that Mr. Romney’s tax problems, including why he can’t reveal more returns, revolves around a gossipy tidbit delivered to him by an anonymous source, whom Reid won’t name, who said Romney didn’t pay taxes for a decade.

Saying he had “no problem with somebody being really, really wealthy,” Reid sat up in his chair a bit before stirring the pot further. A month or so ago, he said, a person who had invested with Bain Capital called his office.

“Harry, he didn’t pay any taxes for 10 years,” Reid recounted the person as saying.

“He didn’t pay taxes for 10 years! Now, do I know that that’s true? Well, I’m not certain,” said Reid. “But obviously he can’t release those tax returns. How would it look?

Anyone who’s covered presidential candidates has dealt with this type of stuff, including myself. Anonymous sources have all sorts of great information, but often are too afraid of what will happen to them financially if they cross someone politically powerful, especially if that person could end up being president.

But without verification it’s worthless. But it’s still interesting to ponder, as well as being good for keeping Mitt Romney’s secrecy fetish in the news, which is important for Team Obama.

As I remember reading somewhere recently (I don’t recall where), when McCain was contemplating whom to choose as his running mate and Romney was on his list Romney was asked to give Mccain’s selection group his returns. If that’s true, it will be interesting to see if they get leaked so that this can be confirmed.

HIs stubbornness in not releasing these returns is making him look guilty of having done something wrong even if he never did. But, his behavior, imo, is “if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a duck”.

I think the only thing that can be worse for Romney than his not having paid any taxes for a decade (if that’s true) is if he received refunds for those years.

I don’t see Romney changing his mind on this one… There’s no up side at this point, because there is obviously something there.

Along with Gov. Ted Strickland who argued that he could openly speculate as to whether Romney “is a tax avoider” or “cheat.” and Stephanie Cutter use of the word ‘felon’.

So the United State government is completely helpless in dealing with a ‘tax cheat’ and possible ‘felon’. The IRS cannot do nothing? The SEC is impotent? And since the SEC can only refer to the Justic Department, that makes the Justice Department useless also.

If this is a serious issue shouldn’t Democrats be calling for an investigation, and if the Justice Department refuses to open up an investigation shouldn’t they be asking for the resignation of Holder?

Mitch McConnell’s striking revelations about President Obama:

Saying he had “no problem with somebody keeping gerbils for pets,” McConnell sat up in his chair a bit before stirring the pot further. A month or so ago, he said, a person who had worked at Petco called his office.

“Mitch, he puts live gerbils in his ass,” McConnell recounted the person as saying.

“He’s put gerbils in his ass for 10 years! Now, do I know that that’s true? Well, I’m not certain,” said McConnel. “But obviously he can’t release those medical records. How would it look?
