Sixty-four percent of likely voters surveyed after Obama’s June 15 announcement said they agreed with the policy, while 30 percent said they disagreed. Independents backed the decision by better than a two-to-one margin. – Bloomberg

PRESIDENT OBAMA scored another wide-ranging policy victory on his DREAMers executive order, much in the same way he blindsided the GOP on his free contraceptive for all of us Vaginas. That it came after the press, including myself, castigated the President on a very bad economic week for message and clarity was important. It gave Obama a tremendously consequential victory where Mitt Romney simply cannot compete.

Let’s face it, there’s a reason it’s hard to beat a sitting president and Barack Obama is illustrating why. If you’re willing to use your clout you can shake opinion and move people with the power of the presidency.

There is little doubt we’ll see a lot more of this if Pres. Obama is reelected, because he won’t ever have to face the voters again.
