Today’s version of the morning show featured an anti-Obama video that resembled propaganda films from 1930’s Europe more than it did responsible TV politics of today. And the remarkable thing was the witless crew on the couch that serves as hosts for this show had the audacity to present it as journalism and congratulate the producer who put it together.By David Zurawik, The Baltimore Sun

ROGER AILES’s network is taking withering criticism for the video above. Right-wing allies are scurrying to provide cover, where none exists. Here’s a statement from Bill Shine, EVP of programming for Fox News, via TVNewser:

“The package that aired on FOX & Friends was created by an associate producer and was not authorized at the senior executive level of the network. This has been addressed with the show’s producers.”

When Ailes began Fox News Channel, there was little doubt what it would be. However, they’ve contended for years they were “fair and balanced,” even as several media studies revealed their viewers are among the least informed on the facts.

“Fox and Friends” is one of the worst infotainment morning shows on cable. They proved why with the video above.

But when speaking of “witless,” Sean Hannity gives this crew a run for their money. Last night he actually did a segment with Michelle Malkin in which the “vetting” of Michelle Obama was the subject. Can you imagine the caterwauling from Hannity if this was done to a Republican first lady? It was just an opportunity for Hannity to utilize old clips in an attempt to ding Mrs. Obama approval rating, which is soaring as her new book on gardening is rolled out.

One stand out on Fox yesterday was Bill O’Reilly, who was very upset about the Planned Parenthood ad, but at least had two “Democratic strategists” on to rebut his point of view.

Unfortunately, no one talking about the Planned Parenthood ad against Romney, when asked on FNC about the Planned Parenthood scandal in Texas over the sex selection abortion video, could give a straight answer on this disgrace. Why anyone is providing a defense for PPA is beyond me. That’s their job to do themselves.

It’s quite separate from O’Reilly making the case that Pres. Obama is against “life,” which must by definition include the woman’s life and her right by law to put herself first, because without her there is no life at all. O’Reilly lost his argument the minute his emotional response turned to parody when he once again suggested anyone is part of a “pro-abortion movement.” He’s symptomatic of our problem and why we can’t discuss a better route to ending unplanned pregnancy, because no one is “pro-abortion.” Religious conservatives of both political parties just don’t understand the individual freedom concept that begins with the woman’s life and has absolutely nothing to do with DNA of biological material before viability.

Taping and then watching the 24-hour infotainment shows is a grind. What happened yesterday on Fox News Channel was something else to behold. “Fox and Friends” started the spectacle off with a bang, and a fitting button was Hannity roasting First Lady Michelle Obama on the FNC spit.
