Massa to Give Glenn Beck Full Hour Tuesday
08 March 2010 2:26 pm by Taylor Marsh
“Steny Hoyer has never said a single word to me at all, never, not once,” Massa said. “Never before in the history of the House of Representatives has a sitting leader of the Democratic Party discussed allegations of House investigations publicly, before findings of fact. Ever.” “I was set up for this from the very, very beginning,” he added. “The leadership of the Democratic Party have become exactly what they said they were running against.” – Roll Call
Update: What Massa might say on Beck’s show.
Welcome to another Democratic train wreck, which comes as the New York Time magazine’s piece on Rahm Emanuel hits the web. The latest political disaster coming from Rep. Massa’s resignation from the House, which is getting new legs today.
The swirling scandal of the Massa resignation is now causing a real problem for Democrats. The dueling truth of it making everyone look very bad.
We’ve got an inebriated, salty-talking ex-Navy man who decides to resign before his retirement next year, because he made an ass out of himself at a wedding, which he’s alleging the Democratic leadership leaked.
“One of them looked at me and as they would do after, I don’t know, 15 gin and tonics, and goodness only knows how many bottles of champagne, a staff member made an intonation to me that maybe I should be chasing after the bridesmaid and his points were clear and his words were far more colorful than that,” Massa said. “And I grabbed the staff member sitting next to me and said, ‘Well, what I really ought to be doing is fracking you.’ And then [I] tossled the guy’s hair and left, went to my room, because I knew the party was getting to a point where it wasn’t right for me to be there. Now was that inappropriate of me? Absolutely. Am I guilty? Yes.” – CBS News
Rep. Hoyer emphatically denies Massa’s charge:
The week of February 8th, a member of Rep. Massa’s staff brought to the attention of Mr. Hoyer’s staff allegations of misconduct that had been made against Mr. Massa. Mr. Hoyer’s staff immediately informed him of what they had been told. Mr. Hoyer instructed his staff that if Mr. Massa or his staff did not bring the matter to the attention of the bipartisan Ethics Committee within 48 hours, Mr. Hoyer would do so. Within 48 hours, Mr. Hoyer received confirmation from both the Ethics Committee staff and Mr. Massa’s staff that the Ethics Committee had been contacted and would review the allegations. Mr. Hoyer does not know whether the allegations are true or false, but wanted to ensure that the bipartisan committee charged with overseeing conduct of Members was immediately involved to determine the facts.
This is just perfect.
No one will defend the comments Mr. Massa made, but it’s hardly a revelation that people say and even do inappropriate things at weddings.
However, this back and forth, what we know now, seems not nearly enough to push out a military veteran who served his country, simply for being an ass at a wedding.
Question is, why is Mr. Massa allowing it?
We’ll know tomorrow, because Massa is giving Glenn Beck the full hour, so says Beck via Twitter.

He has the right to tell his side of the story. He’s certainly earned it!
Odd, strange, weird, but interesting. Must be more to come. Perhaps some kind of deal was made, then broken. Who knows? Might have to watch Mr. Beck
There is a lot swirling, including stories out there that could turn out to be a lot more embarrassing to Massa in the end, as well as humiliating for his family.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0310/34051.html
A Massa aide has told POLITICO that the New York Democrat has been engaged in inappropriate behavior “for eight months.”
UPDATE: See video added.
Massa’s re-telling of the events at the wedding will feel strangely familiar to those who have had one-too-many at a reception. It certainly sets the stage for the inevitable “PC run amok” narrative!
No doubt.
However, in the clip I added Massa starts in on reconciliation picking up Sean Hannity talking points.
It’s got a definite feel of political death spiral.
David Corn: Whos’ the Leading Man? It Ain’t Rahm or Ax.
Corn better be careful. He may well find himself Craig Crawford’d at MSNBC!
I don’t know about this at all. What kind of behavior? Giving a staff person a hard time? Why is he going to the enemy camp to talk. He has to know what Beck will do with it? This is definately weird.
He’s going to be on with Larry King tomorrow night too LL. That’s like talking to a cadaver these days.
God I know kris..it is painful to look at him but at least he will allow Massa to talk.
Sounds like the age old concept of revenge.
‘Nemo Me Impune Lacessit’ Latin for ‘None shall provoke/injure me with impunity’.
Well it looks like this jack wad is as stupid and egotistical as he seems. maybe if we’re lucky he’ll switch to repug and THEN all the really scummy feces can hit the ocilating air mover.
Well, this will throw the Dems off-message for yet another day!

True dat!
From the Baker article….
Adam Green, a founder of Progressive Change, told me that Emanuel’s reputation for being strong was overblown and that the chief of staff actually had “a loser mentality” because he refused to fight more vigorously — even for progressive ideas that had popular support. “Rahm Emanuel is very, very risk-averse and afraid of a fight,” Green says. “We see him, and many people see him, as a destructive influence inside the White House, urging President Obama to cave instead of fighting for real change.” The activists are expressing frustrations that are also felt by Congressional Democrats, even if they will not say so out loud.

This fits with Froomkin’s view of Rahm and it is the one that rings most true for me. For all his reputation of being such a ball buster it’s seems like he is afraid of taking a stand on principle,I know you have to have principles first
Sounds like Nancy Pelosi was miles ahead of Obama and Rahm and we would be better off if he listened to her more. She knew all that bi-partisan effort over the summer was a complete waste of time.
According to Baker Obama is zen like…oh jeez!
The image of a naked Rahm jabbing his finger into the chest of Massa in the House gym is……..what’s the word…….there are no words to describe that picture. It’s just creepy. How much longer do we have to suffer this fool Rahm? I’m begging you, somebody get rid of this guy. Peace

The idea that it was Rahm who thought that congress was going to be all sweetness and light with Obama is absurd.
Absurd.
These people need to step away from the Kool-Aid and stop with their “poor Barack” crap.
JoeCHI, what’s absurd is that Obama hired Rahm in the first place. Which he probably wouldn’t have except that Rahm’s good buddy and partner in crime ‘nuclear’ Axelrod recommended him. Axelrod is another guy who should get the boot. Peace

I don’t care for the whole Rahm mysticism, but I’ve got to tell you that when Massa, who I’m really wondering about at this point, told that story, saying How do you argue with a naked man, or whatever the quote is, I laughed so hard I cackled.

Oh, let me count the ways….
The democrats are going after one another, Its like they are the guests on the Jerry Springer show. I am reading articles about Massa going after Rahm Emanuel but I have also read articles about Rahm Emanuel and David Axelrod are not getting along. The stories are building up. Things just seem to get worse and worse not only in Washington but in the country period. It seems the democratic party is a sinking ship and people are jumping off. I don’t no whats going on with Congressman Massa, but I do believe some of the things he is saying is true. I do believe this white house is trying to do everything it can to pass this horrible healthcare bill, which the americans are against. I will not stick up for a party that backstabs its voters in the back. So lets them go at it and I will sit and watch with glee !!!
It’s just creepy. How much longer do we have to suffer this fool imhopless? I’m begging you, somebody get rid of this guy. Peace
“I do believe this white house is trying to do everything it can to pass this horrible healthcare bill, which the americans are against.”
If by this you mean without a Public Option or Single Payer I’d agree. If you mean NO HCR you’ve been listening to repugnantklan talking points to long.
“I don’t no whats going on with Congressman Massa, but I do believe some of the things he is saying is true.”
Anyone stupid enough to think a sitting Congressperson would RESIGN because someone, part of some HUGE nefarius conspiracy is just fu*ked in their head and should go back their regular programing of Glenn Blech and Limpwithnoballs.
Massa’s vote is THE VOTE on health care, he voted against Obama’s budget and on Cap and Trade. Is it a stretch to think that “dead fish” Emanuel wouldn’t do anything to get rid of him? Not to me, it isn’t. I wouldn’t put ANYTHING past Rahm Emanuel, and neither would a lot of people in Chicago, either.
They should have been more careful: Massa is a Naval Academy grad, and served 24 years in the Navy; in other words, people are more likely to find him credible than not, in the absence of anything more damning than this PATHETIC smear of “sexual harrassment” by an aide who was drunk and inappropriate himself at the wedding reception, notwithstanding Massa’s mea culpa on his own inappropriate comments.
This charge of “sexual harrassment” in other words is laughable on its face, and it pisses me off that it even is raised, because it TRIVIALIZES the very real sexual harrassment faced by women all the time–you know, the REAL stuff like “either you blow me, or you’re fired.”
In my opinion, this “aide” is a shill and I have utter contempt for HIM.
