Was surfin’ and reading about the economy and came across this video of J.K.Rowling giving the Commencement Speech at Harvard [must have been last spring?]. Now, I don’t know if you’re a Harry Potter fan, or a J.K.Rowling fan or not; doesn’t matter. She talks about working at Amnesty International, and what it taught her. The speech is wonderful, heartfelt and honest and heartbreaking as well as heartwarming. I don’t necessarily agree that it’s “all about failure,” though Rowling makes that important point in the speech. You can decide for yourself, but it’s a really great speech, and it’s uplifting, too. She seems like one great lady to me.
DailyCapitalist Says:
“This Harvard commencement speech by J.K. Rowling is terrific. This has nothing to do with economics per se. But it is one of the few speeches I have heard in this context when someone says something meaningful. It’s all about failure. As one of my friends says, ‘Fail forward!”
“You will enjoy this. If you don’t, check your pulse.”

Thanks Noogan
That was fantastic!
I’ve never been able to get through one of the Potter books. Thought they were DREADFUL pablum. However Ms. Rowlings has all the respect and admiration I can possible give/have for another human being. She came from being a battered wife, single unemployed Mother to being literally richer then the freaking QUEEN of England. And ALL by her own sweat and work. AND while her books have never been MY cup of Tea(and NOT made from a Teabag!!!)she HAS inspired literally 10s of millions of kids to read.
This woman should get a Nobel Prize for SOMETHING!
They’re written for a young audience, secularh, though many adults love the fantasy. I so enjoy the movies.
What an incredible inspiration she is.
