… “It is the unforced errors that raise the question of whether Hillary Clinton was right back in 2008 when she argued that the White House was no place for “on-the-job training.” At the time, Clinton’s stinging attacks on Obama’s relative inexperience infuriated the insurgent candidate’s supporters, who damned the Clinton machine for its savage bullying. Yet there was an obvious truth behind Clinton’s rhetoric. As a major player during her husband’s administration, she had an opportunity to learn from the amateurish mistakes made during the Clinton White House, including a callous disregard for key congressional allies and the country’s moderate-to-conservative temperament on contentious social issues. More to the point, the army of ex-Clinton staffers were the ones who wouldn’t need on-the-job training. They already knew how to staff bureaucracies and how to make government work. Even now, a number of critical administration jobs remain unfilled. Republican opposition has something to do with this, but overwhelming Democratic majorities in Congress make this excuse more than a little unconvincing.”
“The good news for the Obama White House is that there is plenty of time for a comeback, and the Republican opposition has an extremely steep hill to climb. This week was a very strong one for the president. His jobs speech demonstrated that he is flexible enough to shift gears when necessary. And his Nobel address was a masterful defense of America’s role as the guarantor of global peace and stability. It was a speech any president would have been proud to give, and its one that Democrats and Republicans have already applauded. So it is certainly possible that President Obama is finally getting the hang of the most difficult job in the world. The question is whether or not it’s too late.”
I suspect it’s too late. This song keeps playing in my head. The new Obama theme song.

The Oslo speech channeled Bush in many respects. Just because Obama gave it doesn’t change the reality. Oh wait….there hasn’t been in reality when speaking of this President.
And yes, Hillary was right, but she wasn’t the only one who questioned the Presidents experience. I well remember Biden, Dodd and Edwards doing the same.
This article is very thin on substance, amabomon, and doesn’t come close to making the case.
I will say that Pres. Obama has frittered away his first year, the most horrific leadership mistake being on health care, which could end up being an embarrassment for Democrats, considering what may end up getting passed. We shall soon see.
As for the Oslo speech, it was the best speech he’s given all year, though Cairo was good, too.
The missing component to Obama’s presidency so far has been effective action.
Did I say it wasn’t a good speech? No I didn’t. I said it channeled Bush in many respects.
It seems to me that whether Obama’s speeches are judged to be either good or bad depends on what the listener wants to hear.
Hillary was right about just about everything.
Especially when she warned that the republican attack machine would be set loose on whoever was President -whether it was her or Obama.
Yet Obama’s naive supporters refused to believe it. As if the GOP would be swooning over Obama as the mainstream media did.
Given what the republicans have unleashed in the last 11 months, I hope they learned their lesson.
And I hope my fellow democrats have all learned another lesson: Experience DOES count
There is only one major difference between Hillary and Obama. That difference is the fact that Hillary is a vicious, bllodthirsty warmonger and Obama is simply a warmonger. There is hardly any difference at all between Hillary and McCain when it comes to foreign policy. Both of them would rather shoot first and ask questions later. Hillary Clinton, George w. bush and John McCain are three peas from the same pod. Except that bush is sane and Hillary and McCain are not. Of the three, Obama, Hillary and McCain, we ended up with the best candidate as president. Which doesn’t say a hell of alot about our choices. Peace
Imhotep
You continue to show ignorance where Hillary Clinton is concerned. What really is your problem? Hillary Clinton has never been vicious, blood thirsty or a warmonger. Why don’t you just leave it with you would hate her guts no matter what. You just leave you self looking ridiculous when you make the feeble attempts at “explaining” why.
Well said djjl!
Considering that Hillary was the AIPAC darling, and had the lion’s share of the support of the defense industry, it is hardly convincing to deny her “hawkishness” by merely calling someone “ignorant”. Saying someone “hates her guts” because they accuse her of being more hawkish than Obama, is like saying that a critic of Israel “hates jews”.
I think history supports the premise that Hillary has been more vocally hawkish than Obama. But if any one thing can be said about that, it seems Hillary’s rhetoric has been more honest and sincere, as Obama certainly hasn’t adhered to many, if any, of his “dovish” pre-election postures.
But to deny that Hillary was a willing supporter of the clusterfuck criminal enterprise in Iraq flies in the face of all the evidence provided to us by the historical record. She was banging on the war drums as feverishly as Bush was.
