Good Lord! The DNC is stupid. I sure am glad I’m not giving them any money.

Be sure and read ‘The Daily Howler’ today,Bob Somerby takes Olberman down along with a few others who are mishandling Palin.

Hi Lake Lady
Is having your book fact checked by 11 AP reporters worse than having partisan “journalists” supported by party operatives travel all the way to Kenya to harass a poor old woman and trick her into making false revelations/accusations about a grandson who has just been elected president? And despite her realising that she is being tricked and correcting herself still quoting her against her son?
Is being described as an empty headed beauty queen worse than having your citizenship and legitimacy questioned incessantly to the point that poor civil servants in Hawaii are harassed daily to get another false admission that the president is not a citizen? And that lie was not only repeated but endorsed by party reps, right wing media and blog and probably the same candidate who is now claiming victimhood and starting a self-righteous war against a vast left wing conspiracy. And to the point that a significant part of the population strongly believes that you are not a citizen?
I guess it depends on opinions. I sincerely hope that those on the right and the left who are so so shocked and appalled by the treatment of Palin were as shocked by what I consider was harassment towards the President. My strong guess is that many of those are so blinded by what Taylor rightly described as hero worship for one candidate that the outrage is much less or inexistent, and that they will completely fail to see the equivalence.
While the DNC list is well… puzzling and I strongly wish that some (and it is in no way generalised) in the media would stop trying to paint Sarah Palin as evil, and clearly it is not working as she comes across as a very warm and likeable person, I just find the whole princess Sarah is treated as no other politician and especially women has been treated ever before irritating.
And the whole I am speaking for women now, even more irritating. Also, I see very little display of sisterly love and solidarity in Palin’s catty attacks and snides on Kouric and Nicole Wallace whom I had never heard of until now, and who I am pretty sure was doing was she considered was the best actions to take for the campaign. Unfortunately for her she may have remained a bit cold to princess Sarah’s charms, therefore she is being trashed in the book. And I remember the Kouric interviews very well, and do not remember her being rude or attacking Sarah, on the contrary in my opinion. Because that didn’t go too well for the Princess she is now Mrs insecure in Palin’s book and for her supporters.
A shout out to these two women, my sisterly love is directed to them.
Sorry for the too long post. And it is not directed to lake lady, just ranting.
I just returned from a visit with my Palestinian friends (though Basel is over in the UAE, Taylor).
The word FURIOUS falls short. What Palin said about the Israelis and their settlements has lit a fire in the Muslim world you may eventually hear about.
She has made a LOT of new enemies.
Hi djjl
This could have only been written by a man who doesn’t have a clue:

” LETTER TO THE NEW YORK TIMES (11/13/09): What irony: even as the House voted to expand access to health insurance, it undermined the health of millions of women. The Stupak-Pitts amendment effectively denies many women access to abortion—a safe, legal medical procedure that one in three women will need in her lifetime.
As for claims that women could buy an abortion rider, no woman anticipates an unplanned or unhealthy pregnancy.
In my abortion clinic in Seattle, I saw many women who needed abortions because something was seriously wrong with the fetus, or their health was compromised by pregnancy. Where will these women turn if Congress denies them coverage?

Truly, that highlighted claim may be the most unintelligent talking-point we’ve ever seen in politics. Health insurance is all about “anticipating” events you don’t “plan.” You buy insurance because you know that unplanned events may occur. But so what? This talking-point has been in wide use for the past several months now. “
Thanks for making that clear Isis, although I would not have taken it that way.
I believe that Taylor’s point and mine as well is that it is politically stupid to react so strongly to Palin. Liberals in the press and otherwise would be much smarter to let her blaze like a shooting star all on her own.It just reinforces all her supporters who loathe the “Liberal Media”.
As for the ridiculous birther movement it is beyond the pale but similar things have been done to Democrats through the ages. It is the Right’s favorite pastime, delegitimizing Democrats.
Yeah, you are right djjl…he really does not get it. I find him to be superb most of the time but he is way off course in this debate.
You know something that really bothers me is that no one is talking about serious procedures when something is seriously wrong with the fetus and it is endangering the Mom. That can be very, very expensive. I think when most people think about abortion coverage they are thinking about routine, non life threatening procedures.
I think the problem is that most people consider that virtually all abortions are pursued as a matter of birth control. They do not consider the fatally flawed fetus, the mother who needs cancer treatment, etc.

“I noticed Kate Snow’s report on ABC News’ website about a conference call that McCain held with his top aides. Snow quoted an aide describing the call this way: “He apologized to everyone on the call for people having to go through this. Said something like ‘You are all my dear friends. This will pass. It’ll pass faster if everyone will just stay out of it.’”
Actually, I am still waiting for McCain’s apology to the rest of the country for putting Palin on his ticket in the first place and subjecting us to all of this. My first reaction to the choice in 2008 was to note its “breathtaking recklessness.” McCain has already paid a big price for that. But the rest of us will keep on paying. Palin will get much richer — thanks in significant part to that awful, left-wing media she will keep attacking. And those attacks will sell more books. If only it were this easy for GM.”
I don’t care if she gets rich as a Lord as long as she does not run for elective office ever again.
I better hit the hay…Mr. Sam gives his grandma a work out every day.

heh-heh… Nothing wrong with a good rant.
As for the DNC, LLady, they went after her over her frickin’ book. How many other bios were laced with half-truths? This isn’t primary season, so they jumped the gun a bit, I believe.
Oh, I heard about it, pmichael, believe me. Unfortunately, on her side of the aisle, Palin does not stand alone.
I’m on the west coast as many of you know, so given it’s late for almost everyone here I apologize, but I wanted to urge and encourage the regulars, the lurkers and the flybys to respond to Taylor’s fundraising thread.
In January of 2010 I will be a regular here for almost 3 years. There is a reason for that. Although there are commenters here that I fundamentally disagree with and frankly piss me off at times, I have not found one other site in which the discourse is consistently as civil, well informed and articulate. That is a direct reflection on Taylor and the quality of her work. I disagree with her on some topics but I have nothing but respect for her, this site and what she is trying to achieve.
That said…..if you find this site to feel like home, if you feel this site is worthy of continuing, if you want to see Taylor expand her work and shine on a much larger stage, contribute. Frankly, 20.00 dollars is not much to ask as she has from each of us. Show your appreciation by contributing today or put Taylor on your Christmas list and give her a gift she can really use and appreciate.

Love you all, even you sec.
Hey, maybe I should have put that up as a diary. Oh well, just friggin contribute.
Thanks kris,
I, too, have not seen another blog that wasn’t frequented nasty and inane rants with little in the way of the generally considered and intelligent opinion I find here.
Again, thanks for the poke and I will do on Friday.
