Maddow the only talking head worth your time. Today she said on MTP -- if this Stupak abortion ban is not removed in conf Dem women will stay home in 2010 and worse. She said this is the biggest restriction on abortion in a generation. Worse than Hyde as it actually reverses abortion access women get now in their hcare plans! Yall got to watch this imp vid. Maddow is telling the people women wont take one from the team in the voting booth.

I admit- I did not realize how conservative the House was. Its more progressive than the Sen-but 64 dems voting to restrict womens rights? Blew me away. WOW. WOrse about 30 then voted against the bill. We dont need these people and I hope they lose their seats and or primaried.

I better see pro choice dems this next week publically denounce Stupak amend and sign on to opposing the final bill unless choice for women is restored. That means you Boxer and DiFi and Gillibrand and Degette etc.. 220 votes and we dilluted the bill un ncessarily I think. 220.

    Yep.

    It’s already begun.

    Right kris?

  2. hc4bo says:

Well I am NOT a woman but I already managed to stay home this past Nov 3 so it should NOT be that hard to stay home come following election seasons …

Let the people who are actually being catered to (GOP ) go to the polls …

  3. Taylor Marsh says:

Rachel is dead on. It’s not like Dems didn’t get a warning shot on Tuesday! Sheesh.

  4. Joyce Arnold says:

They got the warning shot, yes. But apparently it didn’t phase most of them. Maybe they think we’re shooting blanks?

  5. psychodrew says:

Women are the new gays. Welcome to the club!

  6. texan4hillary says:

did planned parenthood and naral fail here? i mean why didnt they mobilize with this stupak lurking for weeks?

That’s a good question. Where was NARAL and P.P. and NOW? I agree with Rachel here, and I intend to be one of those women whose vote will not be taken for granted again and again and again. I think it’s time for a national women’s party or some type of third party. I mean, really, do they think we are fools??? These boys just don’t get it. They act so nonchalant, too. I sort of expect it from the Repubs but the Dems are a real disappointment. They have no clue. A bunch of Catholic bishops and conservadem men get to decide my rights for me and millions of other women? Baloney.

  8. Lake Lady says:

PP is on it,I have already gotten an email. Forget NARAL they have been co-opted by the elite.I’m really disappointed with Emily’s list…crickets so far.

  9. Joyce Arnold says:

I received one from PP, and from NOW, after the vote. But as for “mobilizing,” as you asked, tx4H, I don’t think so, though it’s certainly possible I missed it.

  10. I sent this fax to both Speaker Pelosi and Majority leader Hoyer.

Ms. Speaker Pelosi and Mr. Majority leader Hoyer

The least you could do appears to make
money available for free coathangers for
for poor women since you have allowed
    the conservative Democrats to ban
    abortion coverage for poor women.

I joined the Democratic Party in 1971.
I consider myself a progressive. With
    the watered down public option,
abortion ban and a 10 year closing
of the coverage gap in Medicare Part D
you can forget about me voting for a
Democrat for the house in 2010. I will
abstain from voting for anyone. I will
abstain from voting for Senator as well.
I will go to the polls in NY, and turn
the handle to close the curtain and open
it again voting for noone. I have also
stopped donating to the DNC, DSCC
and the DCCC. Mark my words. You
    keep capitulating to BIG PHARMA,
    BIG INSURANCE and conservative
Religious nuts like Bart Stupak, you
can forget about my support and you
will get used to have a minority in
    congress again.

I want to see the prescription drug
benefit moved to part B cover 80%
of all patented and generic medications
with no extra premiums, no extra yearly
deductibles, no coverage gap, no late
sign up penalties as I refused to sign
up for Medicare Part D because it
appears junk for the middle class.

I will also consider abstaining from voting
for President in 2012 and let President Palin
    destroy this country.

I did not join the Democratic party to see
klanservatives take over my party. I’m
sure you don’t give a damn about my views.

I will watch and see if the Democratic Party
enacts a strong public option without people
having to pay premiums or anything out of
pocket and a real fix for the prescription
drug benefit and a stripping of the Stupak
    amendment.

    Cowards and klanservatives will ruin
    our party.

yall PP is targeting Obama to fix Stupak mess. u send a letter to Obama etc.. also read what richards says.
Our elected representatives in the House let us down when they passed a health care reform bill that will undercut women’s access to comprehensive health care. We can’t let it happen in the Senate. It’s time to use our strongest weapon: the White House. Please join me and Planned Parenthood in asking President Obama to stand with us to protect women’s health care today and every single day until reform is passed. Click here:

    I already signed the letter.

  13. Lake Lady says:

me too and I made a little donation.

  14. texan4hillary says:

    gooooooooooood.

  15. lynnette says:

N.O.W., NARAL, and Planned Parenthood have statements on their websites regarding the passage of the Stupak Amendment. They are all critical of the amendment and vow to fight it in the Senate. We’ll see.

  16. kris says:

“It’s already begun”………..you’re friggin right Taylor.

  17. kris says:

    texan4hillary -

Don’t hold your breath on Boxer. She and Pelosi are cut from the same cloth.

  18. kris says:

BTW IMO not one of those on MTP today is worth listening too. What a load. I cannot, absolutely cannot listen to Mr. Gregory. What an ass.

Rachel Maddow is better on other shows than she is her own. Her show seems to have turned into a bit of a soap opera.

  19. pmichael says:

The whole “abortion” controversy is already so one-sided that it’s almost unbelievable. So many things are unfair about the rights of women.
First of all: ANY male whose SEED produces a fetus should IMMEDIATELY begin paying child support – regardless of the whole ‘marriage’ question. Men have been getting away with their arrogant crap for *far* too many centuries.
Second: NO MAN has ANY RIGHT to “vote” regarding abortion.
    Period.

  20. pmichael says:

    kris,
you’re comparing the Rachel who is concerned about ‘ratings’ with the Rachel who doesn’t have to – but you’re right. In her case, there’s quite a difference.
I stand by my original take from before she even got a show. Her show should have been a Hannity/Colms-type show, – with ‘Uncle’ Pat Buchanan.

  21. texan4hillary says:

i totally disagree. maddow is refreshing to me and to millions of others. her’s is the only show i know that features labor leaders, progressives like rep waters, jackson lee etc.. her show tends to have women leaders on fromt he congress. in fact no one else on tv does this. president clinton said that he wished there was liberal shows like maddow’s on in the 90s. i think she provides a critical role right now. from gay rights to abortion rights she calls obama out and tells dc what is in store if they fail.
