“Progressive” democrats of America stops effort for single payer in the house.

Therefore I suggest people read this petition to make single payer the public option. Go to

http://bit.ly/public_option

This petition has more teeth than every petition I have seen and asked to sign for healthcare.

Tell 2 people to sign this and tell them to tell 2 other people to sign this.

Thank you. If “progressive” democrats of America has given up on single payer then make an effort to tell congress that you want single payer as the public option.

Thank you.

  1. Taylor Marsh says:

A petition won’t do squat with Dems who don’t have the spine to stand up for women’s civil rights.

  2. Really? 20,000 women called Verizon in 2008 to threaten to switch from verizon wireless to another wireless because verizon had censored NARALs text messages. verizon capitulated in 2 hours.

    Boycotts work.

If 20,000 women can get verizon to back off censoring text messages then calls to GOP and other conservative contributors for a strong public option or single payer can work. Dominos pizza gives money to the antichoice crowd. A mass consumer boycott of Dominos pizza would work.

  3. Oh yeah Gallo wines gave over $80,000 to Nacy Pelosi. If thousands of women called Gallo Wines and told them we will not buy your wine until Nancy Pelosi gets Hr676 or a strong public option passed they might have to do something if they lose enough business.

But we’ll have to agree to disagree and watch conservative Democrats screw us because progressives on the outside have no backbone.

  4. Taylor Marsh says:

Did you not watch what happened today?

  5. I watched the House votes. The public option appears weak. The Medicare Part D coverage gap goes away in 10 years and poor women got sold out by Democrats.

Democrats as well as Republicans have to get money from contributors. I suggest people pressure contributors to conservatives with massive boycotts way before legislation comes to a vote.

I sent a fax to Nancy Pelosi telling her that at least she could make money available to poor women for free coathangers, as a big snark.

With regard to the 9 year closing of the medicare part D coverage gap. Why do retired and disabled people have to pay 2 sets of premiums and 2 sets of yearly deductibles to get one prescription drug benefit that should have gone in Medicare Part B in the first place and not administered by private companies.

Perhaps Nancy Pelosi could provide free burial money for those retired and disabled people who die waiting 9 years for the coverage gap to close and the placing of the prescription drug benefit back into part B where it belongs.

Oh yeah let us not hold the contributors to conservatives accountable at all and let them spend cash that we give them on whores in congress. Snark.

I’m considering stopping activism and just selling progressive items in my store and the heck with convincing bellyaching progressives that they need to go after the companies that give money to conservatives with massive boycotts.

  6. Taylor Marsh says:

Ouch, that’s quite a fax you sent.

Boycotts rarely work, which is why they’re not tried more often. The only one who’s really successful with them has been Aravosis, whom I met back in the 1990s, as we were both working to get Dr. Laura bounced from TV. I was writing online at an alt weekly, he was doing activism.

Primary challenges, babe. That’s what’s coming.

  7. You mean the verizon boycott didn’t work?

i’m going to send a fax to nancy pelosi and ask her to make burial money available to families of those medicare clients who have to wait 9 yars for the coverage gap to go away.

I will send the coathanger fax to Marcy Kaptur and Ms. Dahlkemper.

primary wins by progressives in red states. i’ll believe it when I see it.

  8. Taylor Marsh says:

No, I’m just saying they’re difficult and rarely sustained, especially when the goal is only 5,000 signatures.

  9. Oh I only set the goal at 5,000 for my petition as not to scare people off with 100,000. If I had gotten close to 5,000 signatures I would have increase the goal to 10,000 and so on.

20,000 women who made phone calls to verizon in 2008 got verizon to capitulate to stop censoring naral’s text messages in 2 hours. 2 hours.

  10. You appear a good person Ms. March. I just get frustrated when good people won’t do something new like a boycott of conservative contributors. I suppose it looks easy to act like a critic but the other methods really haven’t worked very well against the Republiklan party.

The Democrats took over both houses and the presidency and we get this centrist to conservative junk out of our party. It stinks.

Our party merely replaced conservative Republicans with conservative Democrat.

We have a conservative ruling coalition in congress. 64 conservative Democrats with antichoice ideology joined with 185 conservative Republicans and enacted that horrible antiabortion amendment to the watered down health care bill. Then 39 conservative Democrats still voted against the entire bill making for a very slim passage of a lousy bill.

I don’t call this progress. I call it capitulation to big pharma and the insurance companies and the whacko religious nuts in our party.

With friends like that in our party, who needs Republicans to screw us over, we have the Republiklan party in our party.
